Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports , stated this when discussing the development of the cultural industry in Ho Chi Minh City and the country as a whole with Tuoi Tre newspaper.
Ho Chi Minh City aims to establish large-scale innovation centers.
* What are your thoughts on the increasing development of the cultural sector and the gradual building of a cultural industry in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general?
- Ho Chi Minh City is not only known as a dynamic, innovative, and integrated economic center, but also as a meeting point for international exchange, where cultural values are honored and disseminated.
The cultural sector has made many outstanding achievements in recent times, with many cultural and artistic brands being established at the national and international levels; the literary and artistic creative community is growing stronger, effectively contributing to the economic, cultural, and social development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general.

Not long ago, Ho Chi Minh City became a UNESCO Creative City in the field of cinema. These results demonstrate the tremendous efforts of the industry and the deep concern of central and city leaders over the past period.
Ho Chi Minh City's cultural industry development strategy until 2030 is built on the goal of enhancing the role and exploiting the potential and strengths of sectors with significant growth in the city.
In addition to encouraging creativity and innovation, the city is also implementing a modern infrastructure system, aiming to form large-scale creative centers; promoting regional and international linkages to create a mutually supportive network, both enhancing the value of domestic culture and showcasing Vietnamese culture to the world , aiming to transform Ho Chi Minh City into a global metropolis.
The Party's orientation on breakthrough programs is based on three main pillars: institutional breakthroughs, human resources, and infrastructure. Among these, I believe developing high-quality human resources is a key factor.
* So, how does the cultural sector contribute to the overall development of the country? What are your hopes and aspirations for the development of the country's culture?
- Culture is the "soul" of a nation, creating soft power, belief, and aspirations for building a prosperous country.
It acts as a social regulator, helping to preserve positive values during the development process. Culture not only shapes national identity but also stimulates creativity, regulates society, and directly contributes to the economy through tourism and cultural industries.

Resolution 80 on the development of Vietnamese culture, recently issued, includes several new policies and guidelines extending to 2030, such as: unanimously designating November 24th as "Vietnamese Culture Day";
Allocate at least 2% of the total annual state budget expenditure to culture, gradually increasing it according to practical needs; strive for the cultural industry and creative economy to contribute 9% of GDP; aim to be in the top 3 in ASEAN and top 30 globally in terms of the country's Soft Power Index and the value of cultural industry product exports...
In this new context, culture is recognized as a major resource, contributing directly to the goal of building a prosperous and happy nation.
I expect that as the resolutions from the 14th Party Congress are implemented, cultural development will be increasingly understood in a comprehensive and multifaceted way, and culture will become central to the country's development goals in the new era.
