
Ms. Vo Thi Tu Anh and volunteers organized the "Charcoal Stove" program in Ninh Kieu ward.
The School of Natural Sciences implemented the “Charcoal Stove” program in November 2025 in Ninh Kieu Ward. Early in the morning, Ms. Tu Anh and the students bought food to make ribs and mushrooms. At 5:00 p.m., Ms. Tu Anh and the volunteers transported the food to Bui Thi Xuan Street to give to people in difficult circumstances.
Ms. Tu Anh said: “This time, about 40 students participated in volunteering. The program contributes to educating students in the spirit of mutual love and support. After the program, I wrote articles and information to help lecturers, students, and philanthropists better understand the program, as well as continue to contribute and support the December “Bánh Chèm Hồng” program.”
In early 2025, Ms. Tu Anh asked the leaders of the School of Natural Sciences to implement the "Charcoal Stove" model to support people in difficult circumstances. The School of Natural Sciences maintains cooking once a month, rotating dishes: minced meat porridge, noodles, vermicelli soup, ribs cooked with mushrooms, chicken curry... The total cost of cooking each time is about 25 million VND.
In recent times, Ms. Tu Anh and the School Youth Union Executive Committee have maintained many models to support children, students, and people in difficult circumstances, such as: "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children", "Mid-Autumn Festival Say Hi", "Living Like Flowers", "Spring Volunteers - Tet of Love"... In particular, the model "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children" has been maintained by the School Youth Union in coordination with other units for many years to take care of poor children and students who have overcome difficulties to study well in and outside Can Tho City. In 2025, the "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children" program was organized by the School Youth Union in Luong Tam commune, giving scholarships, school supplies, candies... to students, with a total amount of more than 150 million VND.
Le Thanh Toan, a student of the 49th class of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, said: “The programs organized by Ms. Tu Anh and the School Youth Union have helped me better understand difficult circumstances. From then on, I actively participated in volunteer activities for community life. Ms. Tu Anh often helps, shares, and guides students in studying and training. Thanks to that, I have become more mature and confident after 3 years of participating in Youth Union activities.”
In the movement of accompanying students in studying and doing scientific research, Ms. Tu Anh and the Executive Committee of the Natural Sciences School Youth Union directed the English club to organize activities to help students practice English skills; establish a Scientific Research Consulting Team in the fields of natural sciences, helping students in their initial steps of scientific research... The School Youth Union proactively established a volunteer team to support new students in finding classrooms; organize academic activities to share learning and training experiences, combined with answering questions from new students...
In October 2024, Ms. Tu Anh and the School Youth Union Executive Committee proactively established the "Piggy Bank Companion" scholarship fund to support students in difficult circumstances. The scholarship fund was built on the spirit of voluntary savings of union members, students and lecturers to support poor and excellent students. The fund has mobilized more than 40 million VND, supporting 5 students, with an amount of 5-6 million VND/student.
According to Ms. Vo Thi Tu Anh, in the 2025-2026 school year, she and the Youth Union of the University of Natural Sciences will continue to organize activities to support students and pupils who overcome difficulties to study well; coordinate to organize programs and activities to help students practice health, social skills, English practice skills, job application skills; increase volunteer activities for the community, participate in environmental protection... The Youth Union maintains skillful mass mobilization models to support people in difficult circumstances.
