15 years after the album "I thought love was...!" , singer Hong Hanh officially returned with the album "Love you, blue sea" performed by musician Vo Thien Thanh, including the song of the same name and the songs: "Remembering sea", "Dry sea", "Wild life", "Love story of the sea", "By your side is the wide sea", "Boat and sea", "Love forever pushes our lives" .
Vo Thien Thanh and Hong Hanh are from Binh Thuan . They worked together on several recordings, CDs, and shows.
When Vo Thien Thanh first became famous, Hong Hanh highly appreciated his thinking and the way he made music but did not dare to invite him to make an album because "Thanh had too many contemporary singers around him, especially female singers".
It wasn’t until 2021 that she proposed and Vo Thien Thanh agreed. Due to meticulousness and the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it took him 4 years to complete the project and only completed it at the end of 2024.
They decided to release it in the summer because the album's theme is the sea. Vo Thien Thanh said the process took a long time partly because Hong Hanh is a top-notch singer who needs an album worthy of her.

"After many years of working, Hong Hanh still sings very well! She is truly a beautiful woman of Vietnamese music after many ups and downs of time. She sings songs about the sea like telling a story, attractive because of her rich experience, sobbing, tender but also innocent in a very feminine way," said the musician.
The eight songs in the album are arranged on the common background of symphonic music. The song Tinh xo mai doi ta is skillfully mixed with a bit of gospel music; Thuyen va bien trong trong semi-classical style; Chuyen tinh cua bien is composed in reggae (a slow-tempo music typical of Jamaica - PV).
Both are jazz arrangements, but "By Your Side Is the Wide Sea " has a smooth jazz feel while "Love You, Blue Sea" is a vibrant swing jazz feel.
The highlight of the album is Shallow Sea, which was recorded at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic - a time when both the composer and the singer were insecure. Vo Thien Thanh arranged the harmony with strings rolling like the ocean; and Hong Hanh recorded this song when she had a cold and her voice was hoarse.
The male musician realized that this imperfect recording coincidentally matched the original work very well and was rich in emotion, so he did not let her record it again.
Vo Thien Thanh added that no matter how much variation there is, he is determined to keep Hong Hanh's Saigon essence. He also included in the recordings many sounds of waves, seagulls, the rustling of footsteps on the sand...
The album Love you blue sea marks Hong Hanh's return to music at the age of 60. Thanks to Vo Thien Thanh, she was able to return to her original self and experiment with diverse singing techniques that she had never done before.
