Orphaned female student receives full university scholarship and living expenses

Ho Huynh Nhi completes admission procedures to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

New student Ho Huynh Nhi (Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City) has just completed the enrollment procedures for the Restaurant and Food Service Management program at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

Given her extremely difficult circumstances, Huynh Nhi was awarded a scholarship by the school covering 100% of her tuition fees for the entire undergraduate program and a monthly living allowance of 2,000,000 VND.

Ho Huynh Nhi's situation was extremely harsh. From the 9th grade, her mother left her father and Nhi without a word of goodbye. In the following months, her father struggled to take care of Nhi alone, but because life was so difficult, he decided to go to the city to find work and sent Nhi to live with her schoolmate's grandparents. Not long after, her father passed away due to a serious illness.

A series of misfortunes befell her; homeless and without a place to call home, the young student was taken in by her friend's maternal grandparents in a charity home. To help her grandparents, outside of school hours, Nhi and her friend helped the grandmother make and sell grilled corn, earning a few tens of thousands of dong each day to cover their food expenses.

Despite the hardships of life, Nhi's resilience and determination never seemed to break. For 12 consecutive years, this young girl consistently strived in her studies and burned with the dream of attending university, even knowing that without family, life would be incredibly difficult.

Huynh Nhi confided: "Despite the difficulties, I always tried my best to study throughout my high school years and nurtured a big dream. That is to go to university, so that in the future I can have a stable job to support myself, because my father has..." gone, i have no support anymore".

Nhi said that in the future, she will try her best to study well and improve herself in order to have a stable job in the restaurant and hotel industry in the culinary field. While studying, she will also work part-time to cover her student living expenses.
