According to Zelensky, Ukraine is ready to take precautionary measures in response to threats from Belarus and the border regions of Russia.
"If a threat emerges from Belarus or the border regions of Russia, Ukraine is ready to take preemptive action," he declared.
"We have the ability to consolidate our position and the ability to take preemptive action against Russian territories – where the threat might originate – and against the real leadership of Belarus, who must be vigilant, that is, must realistically recognize the consequences of acts of aggression against Ukraine and our people," Zelensky said.
He added that Ukraine “remembers vividly the events that took place at the beginning of the war.”
"We will not forget this. The Ukrainian Defense Forces, the Security Forces, and our intelligence agencies know what threats exist and how to respond, and of course, how to respond fairly," he said.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that Moscow had prepared five scenarios for expanding the war through northern Ukraine.
Zelensky did not elaborate on specific scenarios. However, in his speech, he stated that Russia was preparing an attack from Belarusian territory in the direction of Chernihiv-Kyiv.
"We are preparing countermeasures for any possible actions if Russia expands its aggression. Our forces in that area will be reinforced. I have instructed the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to prepare further diplomatic measures against Belarus," Zelensky said.
He also stated that Russia is preparing to mobilize more than 100,000 people, but since direct mobilization is not possible, other forms of mobilization may be used, especially given recent decisions concerning the Transnistria region of Moldova.
