Mr. Zelensky announced the establishment of a joint defense system with the US.

“We will work together so that the two countries can produce the necessary weapons. We are preparing to build a new defense ecosystem with the United States, produce weapons and cooperate to promote freedom,” TASS news agency quoted Mr. Zelensky as saying today (September 22).

New industrial bases and jobs will emerge in the joint defense system with the US, he added.

“Washington intends to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the long term, including through partnerships with Kiev’s defense industry. To this end, we will hold a conference in the fall with representatives of the U.S. defense industry, Ukrainian businessmen, and officials from both countries to explore the possibility of establishing joint defense production ventures ,” the U.S. said.

Earlier, President Zelensky held talks with President Joe Biden at the White House. Mr. Biden said that a batch of Abrams tanks would arrive in Ukraine next week, and announced that the US would expand the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine, including the transfer of new Hawk missile complexes.
