Police had to use tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd and prevent looting of stores. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed that hundreds of people deliberately caused disturbances and attacked law enforcement officers.

To curb the chaos, police were forced to cordon off the Champs-Elysees, a popular spot for fans to celebrate major victories. However, this did not prevent crowds from gathering in other areas, with some groups even attempting to block the ring road around Paris.

French authorities are particularly concerned about the risk of a recurrence of the violence that has occurred on nights when PSG played big matches in the past. In 2025, a riot involving PSG left two people dead, including a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed and a 23-year-old man who died while riding a motorcycle.
