Perez wants to buy Garnacho for Real

President Florentino Perez could bring Garnacho from Man Utd to Real like he did with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

According to the newspaper Real Madrid Exclusivo on March 18, President Perez and his scouting team are closely monitoring Garnacho. They consider the Argentine winger a target in Real's rejuvenation plan. This strategy is the reason Real recruited Vinicius, Rodrygo, Federico Valverde, Edouardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham in recent years.

Perez could lure Garnacho using the same tactic he used with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009, when Real's team approached Ronaldo and convinced the Portuguese star to ask Man Utd to let him go. According to Real Madrid Exclusivo , Perez even wanted to meet Garnacho when Real travelled to Manchester for the Champions League quarter-final against Man City in April.

Ronaldo, who holds the record for scoring 450 goals for Real, is Garnacho's idol.

Garnacho was born in Madrid to a Spanish father and an Argentinian mother. In 2020, after training with the youth teams of Getafe and Atletico Madrid, the player born in 2004 joined the Man Utd youth team for $500,000.

Garnacho has been playing for Man Utd's first team since 2022, scoring 12 goals and assisting nine in 74 games. This season, the 19-year-old has scored seven goals and assisted four in 38 games, including the pass that set up Amad Diallo's winner in the 4-3 FA Cup win over Liverpool on 17 March. Garnacho received his highest rating, a 9, after the win over Liverpool.

Garnacho played for Spain U18s, but eventually chose Argentina. In 2023, coach Lionel Scaloni gave the Man Utd star three international appearances.

Garnacho can play on either wing. If he joins Real, he could play as a right-winger, forming a front three with Vinicius and Rodrygo, or with Rodrygo and Kylian Mbappe, who is likely to join Real this summer after leaving PSG.

If Mbappe is involved, Real may have to sell Vinicius to avoid two stars playing in the same position. Then, the Spanish team can convince Man Utd to buy Vinicius by exchanging Garnacho with money. Man Utd has always lacked a quality left-winger, a position that Marcus Rashford has not been able to convince despite being with them for nearly 10 years, and Anthony Martial has been almost unable to develop.
