Following the Vietnam Oil Corporation – JSC (PVOIL)'s rollout of E10 bioethanol fuel, replacing all conventional gasoline nationwide from May 15th, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group ( Petrolimex ) and the Military Petroleum Corporation (MIPECORP) will also switch to selling E10 bioethanol fuel from May 20th.

According to Petrolimex's announcement, its gas stations have been selling E10 bioethanol fuel since the end of April. By May 15th, approximately 80% of the stations had completed the conversion, and the entire system is expected to simultaneously sell E10 fuel from May 20th.

Petrolimex stated that, in practice, after more than 8 months of selling E10 gasoline in Ho Chi Minh City, the market has not recorded any incidents or complaints from consumers related to quality.

Consumption during the E10 pilot period increased by approximately 40% compared to the initial period, indicating an increasingly positive response from consumers. Recently, the sales volume of E10 gasoline has been at 3,000 – 4,000 m³/day.

“Immediately after the Prime Minister issued Directive 09/CT-TTg on March 19, 2026 – setting the goal of deploying E10 gasoline in April 2026 to reduce the consumption of conventional gasoline by about 10%, Petrolimex promptly implemented many comprehensive solutions from a very early stage, such as creating ethanol sources, investing in completing the storage tank system, blending technology with 7 E10 gasoline blending facilities nationwide, and standardizing technical processes and operations at its system of more than 2,800 gas stations… ”, a Petrolimex representative said.

With a business strategy focused on high-quality products, in addition to E10-RON 95 gasoline meeting Euro 3 emission standards, Petrolimex now also sells E10-RON 95 gasoline meeting Euro 5 emission standards.

"In the future, the Group will research adding more premium products to its product range, such as E10 RON 97 gasoline meeting Euro 5 standards. The deployment of E10 gasoline is also linked to the digital transformation and green shift strategy," a Petrolimex representative stated.

Responding to VTC News online, a representative from MIPECORP stated that the company is actively implementing measures to ensure the sale of E10 bioethanol fuel, replacing all conventional gasoline, starting from May 20th.

"Currently, we are finalizing the procedures and completing the purchase and sale contracts with our partners. After completion, by May 20th, we will begin selling E10 bioethanol fuel entirely, replacing the current mineral gasoline," this person stated.

Previously, PVOIL announced that, starting May 15th, the company would officially begin selling E10 bioethanol fuel at nearly 1,000 gas stations nationwide.

In Hanoi , on the morning of May 15th, all 8/8 PVOIL gas stations switched from selling conventional gasoline to selling 100% bio-gasoline, and this was positively received by consumers.

Prior to the simultaneous rollout, PV OIL's gas stations completed the review and preparation of technical conditions, from storage tanks, pumps, pipelines to measuring equipment. At the same time, cleaning of storage tanks, checking for leaks, and assessing the compatibility of equipment with E10 gasoline were carried out to ensure product quality and safety during business operations.

On May 15th, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) issued a document to key petroleum distributors regarding the implementation of the roadmap for distributing and using E10 gasoline starting from June 1st.

According to Circular 50/2025, from June 1st, unleaded gasoline (according to current national technical standards) must be blended into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide. E5 RON 92 gasoline can still be blended and used in gasoline engines until the end of 2030.

To ensure the implementation of the distribution and use of E10 gasoline from June 1st, petroleum wholesalers and distributors are requested to urgently develop implementation plans that are consistent with consumption needs within their distribution systems.

The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development also requested traders to negotiate and sign contracts for the purchase and sale of E10 gasoline with units that have blending and distribution facilities to ensure the supply and distribution of E10 gasoline from June 1st.

Businesses are directing and coordinating with their affiliated distribution systems, franchisees, and retail agents to prepare the necessary facilities to be ready to distribute E10 gasoline from June 1st.
