Breaking up a 1,000 billion VND football betting ring

The individuals involved organized and participated in gambling in the form of football betting on the website bong88.com, with transaction amounts through accounts totaling approximately 1,000 billion VND.

The individuals involved in organizing and participating in gambling activities have been arrested and detained by the Phu Yen Provincial Police.

On July 15th, the Investigation Police Department of Phu Yen province announced that it had initiated a criminal case, charged and detained eight suspects on charges of organizing gambling and participating in online football betting.

Previously, on July 11th, task forces from the police forces of Phu Yen, Quang Ngai, and Lam Dong provinces, in coordination with the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department ( Ministry of Public Security ), simultaneously raided and arrested eight individuals: Tran Dinh Thang (born in 1980), Doan Quoc Hoang (born in 1987), Le Van Phap (born in 1993), Le Nguyen Viet Thinh (born in 1991), Nguyen Khac Dai (born in 1982), Nguyen Khanh Ninh (born in 1984), Truong Minh Khang (born in 1996), all residing in Phu Yen province, and Nguyen Van Loi (born in 1993, residing in Da Nang city).

During the search of the suspects' residences, the police seized numerous items and equipment used for organizing and participating in gambling.

The police determined that from the beginning of May 2024 until now, the suspects organized and participated in gambling in the form of football betting on the website bong88.com. The amount of money transacted through accounts was approximately 1,000 billion VND.

Tran Dinh Thang and Doan Quoc Hoang have been identified as the two ringleaders of this gambling operation.

The police are currently conducting a broader investigation and will handle the case according to the law.
