Authorities dismantled a football betting ring worth over 400 billion VND.

DNO - On December 12th, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police successfully dismantled a large-scale online gambling ring involving football betting worth over 400 billion VND, arresting 9 individuals involved in operating and participating in the gambling.

Through intelligence gathering in the area, the Criminal Police Department discovered a large-scale gambling ring operating across multiple wards and communes, run by Hoang Duy Ninh (24 years old, residing in Chien Dan commune) and Pham Ngoc Triem (43 years old, residing in Dien Ban ward).

This group used Super accounts from overseas sources, splitting them into multiple lower-level accounts to organize online football betting through the Bong88 website for intermediaries and gamblers.
The suspects raised the exchange rate from 6,000 VND to 10,000–50,000 VND/Yen for gambling purposes, aiming for higher illicit profits; at the same time, they constantly changed their operating methods, using transit points and high technology to conceal the flow of money and evade authorities.

Initially, the police determined that the total amount of money involved in the gambling ring exceeded 400 billion VND. Between November 4th, 2025 and December 9th, 2025 alone, the transaction amount reached over 80 billion VND.

On December 12th, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police, in coordination with professional units of the Ministry of Public Security and local police forces, simultaneously arrested Hoang Duy Ninh, Pham Ngoc Triem, and 7 other individuals for gambling offenses, including: Nguyen Duc Phuoc (born 1983, Hoa Xuan Ward); Nguyen Dac Tuoi (born 1986, Go Noi Commune); Nguyen Dinh Lan (born 1972, Hoi An Ward); Phan Ngoc Chau (born 1960, Dien Ban Ward); Nguyen Van My (born 1975, Dien Ban Ward); Nguyen Duc Hiep (born 1976, Dien Ban Ward); and Chau Ngoc Thanh Truyen (born 1983, Nui Thanh Commune).
The seized items included 9 mobile phones; over 2,000 pages of gambling history documents; and 161 million VND in cash. At the same time, the police froze over 1.5 billion VND in gambling money and illicit profits in the suspects' accounts.

The case is currently under further investigation and will be handled in accordance with the law.
