Striving to complete 1,000 new classrooms.

To meet the urgent need for school facilities for the new school year, Ho Chi Minh City is mobilizing maximum resources and implementing the project with urgency and determination to complete 1,000 new classrooms during the peak period from now until September 2026.

In 2026, the city is expected to implement approximately 70 school construction projects (including 66 public and 4 private projects), with 1,251 new classrooms built, of which 1,010 are additional classrooms.

Of these, 48 projects with 907 new classrooms (699 additional classrooms) are expected to be completed before the start of the new school year on September 5th.

From September 5th to the end of December 2026, the remaining 22 projects, comprising 344 new classrooms (311 additional classrooms), will continue to be completed. The city has identified three "peak milestones of the campaign" to focus its direction and create a competitive emulation movement.

In particular, to celebrate the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026), localities and investors simultaneously launched campaigns, committing to ensuring that 100% of projects in the group scheduled for completion in September are constructed urgently and progress is accelerated.

The second milestone is the peak "50 days and nights" phase of the campaign, aimed at boosting the emulation movement, ensuring the completion of key items and bringing the project into use as soon as possible, in time to serve the 2026-2027 school year.

The third milestone is to celebrate National Day (September 2, 2026), when key projects will be simultaneously inaugurated and officially marked with the plaque "Projects commemorating the 50th anniversary of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh".

For projects scheduled for completion after September 2026, local People's Committees will continue to strengthen their guidance, monitoring, and supervision of implementation progress.

The campaign "150 days and nights to complete 1,000 classrooms for the 2026-2027 school year" is being implemented to meet the urgent need to basically ensure enough classrooms for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years, aiming to fulfill the targets set in the Resolution of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term; and at the same time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the official renaming of Saigon-Gia Dinh City to Ho Chi Minh City.
