The 2025 university entrance exam has had some problems in announcing the admission scores of some schools, causing anxiety for candidates and their parents. There have been many cases of confusion in the admission combination, leading to a change in the results from passing to failing.
In response to information from some newspapers reflecting on errors in university and college admissions in 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training said that admissions have been on schedule, the system is operating stably, and candidates' rights are guaranteed.
In 2025, 852,000 candidates registered for the exam with 7.6 million wishes to enter more than 400 universities and colleges. Because candidates can register for many wishes, the total number of wishes the system has to process exceeds 50 million, double that of 2024.
To meet this requirement, the Ministry has upgraded the general enrollment support software system, including the virtual filtering stage. Although there was an overload in the initial phase, it was quickly resolved and ensured that the benchmark data was published on August 22.
Schools then need 2–3 days to review, correct errors, and complete the list of successful candidates before updating the system. From August 25, candidates can confirm their admission online; by noon on August 26, more than 560,000 candidates had successfully enrolled, exceeding the number of the first batch in 2024.
During the admission process, some errors still occurred, mainly due to input data (admission conditions, criteria, priority evidence, foreign language certificates, etc.) or manual operations of some schools. However, thanks to experience from previous years, the number of errors has decreased significantly compared to 2024. The Ministry and schools have set up hotlines to receive feedback, recording about 20-30 cases per day and all are handled promptly and in accordance with regulations.
The Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that all qualified candidates will definitely receive admission notices on time. The problems in the past were mainly due to the fact that the school had not completed the data review, not due to system errors. The Ministry also requested that if any media agencies receive feedback, they can forward it directly to the Department of Higher Education for timely handling, ensuring the rights of candidates.
In the coming time, the Ministry will continue to listen to feedback, research to perfect regulations and direct schools to better implement enrollment work for the following years.
