Mid-size crossover segment in Q1 2026: VinFast VF 7 surpasses Ford Territory.
After a sluggish period during the Lunar New Year holiday, the mid-size crossover segment saw a resurgence in sales in March. As a result, cumulative sales for the first three months of 2026 for this segment also show signs of growth, following the general market trend.
Among more than 10 models positioned in the same segment, the Mazda CX-5 had the highest sales volume in Q1 2026, reaching 4,643 units. In March 2026 alone, 1,531 Mazda CX-5s were delivered to customers. Ranked second, the VinFast VF 7 electric vehicle achieved cumulative sales of 3,514 units in the first three months of this year, surpassing its competitor Ford Territory, which sold only 3,411 units.

Next, the "newcomer" Mitsubishi Destinator achieved total sales of 2,994 vehicles in the first quarter of 2026, becoming one of the models with the most impressive growth rate in March, recording 1,663 units sold. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Tucson came in last place with 2,519 vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2026, with 744 units sold in March alone.
The shift in rankings within the mid-size crossover segment shows that the competition between electric and gasoline vehicles is becoming fiercer than ever. The recovery in sales in this segment not only marks the return of internal combustion engine vehicles but also demonstrates the growing appeal of electric vehicles in the context of the government's push for a green transition.
