According to the President of the French Olympic Committee, David Lappartient, France plans to host the 2030 Winter Olympics in the Alps (eastern France), with venues based on 95% of existing infrastructure, stretching from Nice to the Haute-Savoie region.
The Olympic Village will likely be located in Nice, which is also the site of the media center.
French officials are also planning to build an ice rink in this coastal city to host indoor figure skating competitions.
France has proposed a budget of $1.6 billion for the 2030 Winter Olympics. The country has hosted the Winter Olympics three times – in Chamonix in 1924, Grenoble in 1968, and Albertville in 1992.
Besides France, Switzerland and Sweden are also vying to host the 2023 Winter Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is scheduled to announce the host of the event in July 2024.
