Launching the songwriting contest “Vietnam – Cuba: Forever the song of Friendship”

On August 22, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations (Hanoi), the launching ceremony of the songwriting contest "Vietnam - Cuba: Forever Echoing Song of Friendship" took place.

The program was attended by Mr. Tran Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Mr. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam..., along with many delegates and guests.

The press conference was chaired by Associate Professor, Doctor, musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations ; Major General, musician Nguyen Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association; writer, journalist Hoang Du, Editor-in-Chief of the Literature and Arts Times.

Speaking at the press conference, writer and journalist Hoang Du, Editor-in-Chief of the Literature and Arts Times, said that in response to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society for a campaign to support the Cuban people with the theme "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" taking place in 65 days (August 13 - October 16) to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties and foster the special friendship between the two nations; implementing the direction of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Literature and Arts Times in collaboration with the Vietnam Musicians Association and the Digital Knowledge Media Corporation - TTS organized a campaign to compose songs with the theme "Vietnam - Cuba: The Song of Friendship Resounds Forever".

“The campaign is a humanitarian art activity, aiming to mobilize musicians, artists, and music lovers from all walks of life to compose songs expressing the loyal affection, attachment, and international solidarity of the Vietnamese people for the Cuban people; to express gratitude for the noble acts that Cuba has done for Vietnam during the difficult years, as in the immortal words of Leader Fidel Castro: For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood,” writer and journalist Hoang Du emphasized.

Associate Professor, Doctor, musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, said that the songwriting campaign “Vietnam – Cuba: Forever Echoing Song of Friendship” is not only an artistic activity, but also demonstrates the affection and responsibility of artists and musicians in accompanying the people of the whole country to demonstrate the spirit of pure international solidarity, especially with the brotherly Cuban people.

Mr. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam shared: “Music has no borders and the initiative to organize this songwriting campaign is truly appreciated and welcomed by us. Because through the melody and lyrics, the friendship between the people of Vietnam and Cuba is expressed vividly and emotionally. This is not only an artistic activity, but also a great spiritual contribution, along with practical support from the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, and many other Vietnamese organizations for Cuba”.

The songwriting contest “Vietnam – Cuba: Forever the Song of Friendship” is open to all Vietnamese citizens, Vietnamese people abroad, and foreigners in Vietnam, regardless of age or profession.

The works are composed in song genres and musical styles that are legally circulated in Vietnam.

The entry must be a song that has not been popularized and has won any awards in any central, local or other sectoral competitions. The Organizing Committee will not consider awards for works that copy or imitate the ideas, melodies and lyrics of other authors at home and abroad.

Authors are responsible for the copyright of their works according to the provisions of law. If the winning work is found to violate the provisions on copyright and related rights, the Organizing Committee will revoke the award and widely announce it in the mass media.

The award structure includes: First prize, Second prize, Third prize and Encouragement prize.

The Organizing Committee will select outstanding works to perform and award prizes at the campaign's closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony and awards ceremony is scheduled for October 15.
