A body was found, suspected to be the victim of a boat capsize in Ha Long Bay

On the afternoon of July 25, search forces in Quang Ninh province said they had just discovered a body near the scene of a tourist boat capsize in Ha Long Bay.

The search team said the initial identification of the victim was a female, wearing black clothing. The victim's body was brought ashore for relatives to identify or use professional measures to determine the identity, after which it will be handed over to the family for burial.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, up to now, of the 49 people on board the Vinh Xanh 58 ship that had an accident in Ha Long Bay on the afternoon of July 19, the authorities have rescued 10 people; 37 bodies have been found and handed over to their families; 2 victims are still missing at sea. If the body just found is determined to be 1 of the 2 missing people, then there is still 1 person who has not been found.

The search for missing victims is an extremely important task. Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Cong said that he has directed search forces to overcome difficulties, continue to coordinate to expand the search area in the streams and foothills; search methods follow horizontal and vertical standards, ensuring a dense search density, not missing any search area on the sea surface, using small boats to navigate in small alleys...

At the same time, the forces continued to inform, propagate, and mobilize fishermen at sea and transport vessels passing through the area to actively participate in the search for the victims.

It is known that currently, the search force of the Provincial Military Command includes 42 officers and soldiers with 3 ships and 6 boats; the Police has 30 officers and soldiers with 8 boats; the Ha Long Bay Management Board sent 8 officers and 2 boats.

In particular, the search for victims also received active support from volunteer forces such as: Ha Long flycam group, 116 Rescue Team (a team specializing in providing free support to families of victims with relatives who drowned, established in 2020 in the old Thai Binh province), fishermen...
