On November 4, 2010, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2008-QD/TTg on taking April 27 every year as Vietnam Architecture Day with the aim of encouraging and attracting the attention of architects, people of all walks of life, managers of architecture - planning, investors, and social - professional organizations. They will unite, be creative, and actively participate in building and developing advanced Vietnamese architecture, imbued with national identity.
In nearly 40 years of renovation, architecture has developed strongly in all types from residential architecture, public works, cultural works... to religious works. Some examples include: International Conference Center and Headquarters of Vietin Bank - 2000 (Architects Nguyen Thuc Hoang, Dang Kim Khoi); Noi Bai International Airport Terminal T1 - 2000 (Architects Luong Anh Dung, Than Hoang Linh); Ecopark Urban Area (Hung Yen) - 2000, Saigon Mui Ne Tourist Area (Architect Nguyen Van Tat); Hai Phong Trade and Cultural Exhibition Center - 2003 (Architect Nguyen Tien Thuan); National Convention Center (Hanoi) - 2006, Keangnam Landmark Building (Hanoi) - 2008, Lien Khuong Airport (Da Lat) - 2009 Architect Luu Huong Duong... Memorial and spiritual works such as: Dien Bien Phu Martyrs Cemetery - 1992 (Architects Nguyen Truc Luyen, Hoang Phuc Thang), Monument to Heroic Martyrs in Tuyen Quang - 1995 (Architect Le Hiep), Monument to Heroic Martyrs in Ba Dinh, Hanoi - 1993 (Architect Le Hiep), Monument to Hung Kings (Architect Nguyen Truong Luu)...
Up to now, the country has nearly 30 architect training institutions, graduating more than 1,000 architects each year. According to incomplete data, there are currently more than 20,000 architects nationwide, of which more than 6,500 are members of the Vietnam Association of Architects. The generation of architects born in the 70s and 80s has risen to become the core force of the architectural development career. Many young architects have pioneered in creating new trends such as green architecture and architecture for the community. Many people have won prestigious awards in national and international architectural competitions such as Vo Trong Nghia, Hoang Thuc Hao, Nguyen Hoang Manh, Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Doan Thanh Ha, Nguyen Xuan Minh, Ho Khue... In 2017, at the UIA World Congress of Architects held in Seoul, Korea, for the first time in the history of Vietnamese architecture, Architect Hoang Thuc Hao was honored to receive the UIA Grand Prize for his contributions to the community.
Since 2015, the Vietnam Association of Architects has focused its efforts on drafting legal documents, actively participating in drafting the Law on Architecture with the expectation of contributing to improving the professional practice environment and enhancing the professional capacity of architects. The Law on Architecture was passed by the 14th National Assembly and took effect from July 1, 2019, and Decree 85/2020/ND/CP of the Government for the first time identified and assigned tasks to the socio-professional organization on architectural practice, the Vietnam Association of Architects. The Law on Architecture and the Government's decree were born, opening a new stage for the development of Vietnamese architecture and the practice of architecture in a professional and healthy direction, approaching one step closer to the architectural practice environment of the world and the region. Thereby, it is expected to open a period of liberating the creativity of architects, preserving and promoting architectural heritage, creating many new talents, many new works full of the breath of national art, serving the needs of economic, cultural and human development of Vietnam in the new period.
Accompanying the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Binh Thuan Association of Architects has also made many contributions to the common success. The Binh Thuan Association of Architects has been established for 33 years, currently has more than 60 members operating in many fields. Over the years, the Association has constantly innovated the content and form of activities, contributing to creating the architectural face of the province with more and more beautiful and spacious works. The members of the Association have participated in consulting, designing and constructing many large-scale projects of the province such as: Headquarters of provincial administrative agencies; industrial parks; Dinh Thay Thim relic site; Provincial Youth Activity Center... In addition, the Association has actively participated in research, consulting and innovation activities to create more valuable architectural and planning works, contributing to the renewal of urban and new rural spaces, forming new tourist and residential areas.
The past 75 years have been a time when architects have gathered under the common roof of the Vietnam Association of Architects, always loyal to the cause of the Party, the State, and the people, always united and constantly innovating and creating, completing the task of creating a safe and sustainable living space and contributing to the success of the cause of national construction.
