On the evening of May 23rd, Phi Phong: Blood Demon of the Sacred Forest officially reached the 200 billion VND mark in revenue after 39 days of release.
At the same time, this is also the first Vietnamese horror film in history to reach 200 billion VND in revenue and attract 2.5 million viewers. The previous box office record for the horror genre belonged to "The Corpse Possessed " (150 billion VND).
With this achievement, director Do Quoc Trung's film became the second highest-grossing film of 2026, second only to Tran Thanh's " Tho Oi " (Oh, Little Rabbit).
In addition, Phi Phong: Blood Demon of the Sacred Forest has officially surpassed Em Chua 18 (I'm Not Yet 18) to join the Top 15 highest-grossing Vietnamese films of all time.
To date, even in its sixth week of release, *Phi Phong: Blood Demon of the Sacred Forest* continues to hold its position in the Top 5 for ticket sales and daily box office revenue, despite competition from many newly released films.
This demonstrates the enduring appeal of horror films inspired by legends of bloodthirsty demons in the highlands of Vietnam.

One of the major advantages of *Phi Phong: Blood Demon of the Sacred Forest* comes from its T16 rating – intended for audiences 16 years and older, compared to the more common T18 rating in the horror genre.
This significantly expands the film's audience, especially younger viewers who have limited access to hardcore horror films in theaters.
In addition, the release strategy is considered a smart move by the team, choosing to premiere a week earlier than the holiday period, which is already "crowded" with four other Vietnamese films being released at the same time.
Thanks to positive word-of-mouth from the very beginning, the film quickly dominated in terms of screenings, immediately reaching the 100 billion VND mark in just 6.5 days, right before the Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the April 30th - May 1st holidays. From there, the film maintained its strong performance at the box office for many weeks afterward, continuously recording remarkable revenue milestones.
The 200 billion VND milestone is not only a memorable achievement for Phi Phong: Blood Demon of the Sacred Forest , but also a well-deserved reward for the efforts of the entire team in bringing a polished, innovative, and culturally rich Vietnamese horror film to life.
This success also raises many expectations for the future development of domestic horror films, as audiences are increasingly willing to embrace Vietnamese stories that are seriously invested in, both in terms of quality and cinematic experience.
