The film 'Underworld Beauty Salon' starred model Ngoc Trinh and supermodel Xuan Lan. With a revenue of only about 12.6 billion VND, the film became one of the most disappointing Vietnamese films at the box office in the first few months of 2026.
According to box office data, in the final days before its release, "Underworld Beauty Salon" was almost completely uncompetitive. On May 31st, the film had only one screening left nationwide and sold no tickets. From June 1st, the film was no longer shown in theaters.

Released during a period of intense competition in the Vietnamese film market, "Underworld Beauty Salon" was promoted as a psychological horror film revolving around obsessions with beauty, youth, and the dark secrets behind a beauty salon.
In the film, Ngoc Trinh plays a young doctor who gets caught up in mysterious phenomena at a beauty clinic run by Xuan Lan's character.

Despite possessing a subject matter considered to have great potential for exploration, the film failed to create a positive impact on audiences. Many opinions suggest that while the initial idea was quite appealing, the execution was disjointed and lacked depth. The psychological plot points were not resolved convincingly, while the horror elements relied primarily on jump scares rather than building a tense and haunting atmosphere.
The acting of the cast has also become a subject of debate. In particular, Ngoc Trinh's performance continues to receive mixed reviews, especially in scenes requiring complex emotional depth. This makes it difficult for the film to generate word-of-mouth buzz.

The revenue of over 12 billion VND is considered quite low compared to the current standards of Vietnamese films. After allocating a percentage to theaters and distribution companies, the project's ability to recoup its investment is considered very limited. This is also a disappointing result for the production team, especially given that Vietnamese horror films are still considered one of the most attractive genres at the box office.
The failure of "Underworld Beauty Salon" also highlights the harsh realities of the film market, where the increasing number of films released in theaters makes screening slots a fiercely competitive resource.
