From real-life cases to films.

"Trang An Firewall," produced by Hanoi Radio and Television, is the first television series in Vietnam to directly address high-tech crime cases, particularly cryptocurrency and online fraud. The series depicts a tense battle of wits between the police force and a large-scale "cryptocurrency" ring, based on a series of real-life cases that the Hanoi City Police dismantled in late 2024. Notably, this included the "Mr. Pips" case (played by Le Khac Ngo), which resulted in the arrest and prosecution of 48 individuals and the freezing of assets worth over 5.3 trillion VND.

The film holds special significance as it was released at a time when Hanoi was the location where the "United Nations Convention against Cybercrime" (Hanoi Convention) was signed at the end of October 2025. In the context of global efforts to establish "firewalls" to protect cyberspace, "Trang An Firewall" emerges as a voice of solidarity, spreading a spirit of responsibility and international cooperation.

Regarding the idea behind the film, journalist Nguyen Trung Son, Deputy General Director of Hanoi Radio and Television Station and co-screenwriter, shared: "In early 2025, at a meeting with voters in the capital, people raised many concerns about cybercrime."

Also at that event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the Hanoi City Police, reported in detail on major fraud cases that the city police had cracked down on in recent years. In light of this situation, Hanoi Radio and Television Station determined that reflecting high-tech fraud schemes through the language of cinema is part of the political propaganda mission of the media agency, helping people to identify, be vigilant, and proactively protect themselves.”

According to screenwriter Vu Liem, who has extensive experience with crime dramas, the film maintains a 50% real-life material - 50% creative element ratio. The operational details included in the film are carefully selected, using only techniques that are not classified as operational secrets, aiming to create authenticity while ensuring information security.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the Hanoi City Police, highly praised the accuracy of the work: “Cybercrime cases are always very difficult because criminals hide deep within, never meet in person, and all traces are virtual. Bringing them to the screen is also not easy, but “Trang An Firewall” has reflected reality with a very high degree of accuracy.”

Let's work together to build a "firewall" to stop crime.

In recent years, along with the explosion of social media, online fraud has escalated rapidly, leaving behind heavy losses and constant worry in people's lives. According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Security , from the end of 2019 to mid-2024 alone, online fraud cases caused losses of more than 12,000 billion VND. In Hanoi alone, in the first 10 months of 2025, authorities detected 1,787 cases of fraud and property appropriation, accounting for 35% of the total number of criminal offenses, with total losses exceeding 925 billion VND. In light of this situation, the Hanoi City Party Committee has assigned media agencies the task of producing multimedia programs to raise awareness and combat high-tech crime, with film being an effective method.

The film "Trang An Firewall" explores the theme of dramatic criminal investigation but with a relatable, everyday storytelling style, allowing viewers to follow the story while simultaneously raising their awareness. The film recreates the intense battle of wits between the police force and a high-tech fraud ring, while also exposing a series of psychological manipulation tactics employed through disguised "wealth-building" seminars and classes. Promises of "financial freedom" and "super-high profits"—familiar tricks—are clearly shown, revealing how tens of thousands of people are easily drawn into an uncontrollable vortex. Simultaneously, the journey of tracing and deciphering money laundering schemes and complex encryption layers is realistically portrayed, creating a compelling narrative that is both engaging and deeply cautionary.

The film brings together many talented actors from Vietnamese cinema. Among them, Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai plays Colonel Hoang, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department PC02, a sharp and decisive commander. Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen plays Major General Bach, Deputy Director of the City Police, representing the courage and strategic vision of the investigative force. Actor Doan Quoc Dam plays Long, a technology expert with a sharp mind who is inadvertently drawn into a large-scale cryptocurrency scam. Other cast members include Thuy Anh, Quynh Chau, Long Vu, Thanh Binh, and others.

Since its premiere (November 7th), the film has attracted hundreds of thousands of views on digital platforms along with tens of thousands of supportive comments, because the story accurately reflects the hot issues of digital life. As shared by Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai, the situations in the film help viewers gain a deeper understanding of cybercrime – a problem that is knocking on the door of every family. This is also the film's expectation: to join hands in building a "firewall" to block crime, contributing to raising community awareness about information security, and working alongside law enforcement agencies in protecting national cybersecurity.
