The official visit to Laos by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan is of great significance. This is the first official visit to Laos by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, taking place in the context of the world and regional situation continuing to have complicated developments. Vietnam and Laos are making efforts to successfully implement the goals and tasks set out in the Resolutions of the Party Congresses of each country; summarizing 40 years of renovation and holding Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, especially at a time when Vietnam is organizing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
Through this, Vietnam reaffirms the consistent policy of the Party and State of always giving the highest priority to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, while contributing to consolidating and tightening the close and intimate feelings between the two countries' senior leaders.
The visit to Laos by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan this time has been highly valued by both countries, with careful arrangements and preparations for both the program and content. Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan will have important meetings with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith; talks with Lao Vice President Pany Yathotou; and meetings with other senior leaders of the Lao Party and State.
It is expected that the two sides will inform each other about the situation of each Party and each country, deepen strategic exchanges, deepen bilateral relations, promote effective implementation of high-level agreements, and results of visits by senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries, including the State visit of President Luong Cuong (April 2025), in order to foster the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos to develop more deeply, substantially, effectively, bringing practical and great benefits to the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
What were the highlights of the visit, Ambassador?
The bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has made new developments in recent times, especially overcoming difficulties and challenges from complicated developments in the world and regional situation.
The two sides have continuously consolidated and promoted the special friendship and solidarity through regular delegation exchanges and high-level contacts on all channels of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly, effectively promoting cooperation mechanisms, and implementing important agreements and cooperation plans.
This visit to Laos by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan takes place at a very special time, in 2025, both sides celebrate many important historical events of the country such as: 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, 135th birthday of the great President Ho Chi Minh, 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and 105th anniversary of the birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane... Those historical events of the two Parties and two countries are very closely linked to each other.
Through the visit, the two sides exchanged measures and coordinated the organization of a number of activities to enhance propaganda and education for officials, party members and people of the two countries about the history of the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
It is a relationship that has continuously developed from a traditional relationship to a great friendship directly founded by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and beloved President Souphanouvong, and has been diligently cultivated by successive generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
Having gone through countless hardships and challenges, that relationship has been concluded to be a vital, exemplary, loyal, and pure relationship that is rare in international relations; a relationship that is a rule of thumb; a factor that ensures victory for the revolutionary cause of each country and a priceless common asset of both peoples, a source of great encouragement and motivation for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland of each country.
In addition, one of the highlights of the visit is that the two sides will attend the ceremony to recognize the “Truong Son Trail on Lao soil” as a national historical relic of Laos, a shining symbol of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship during the resistance war against the US.

In the solemn atmosphere of the country towards the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, reviewing the Vietnam-Laos relationship, the "unique" relationship in the world, what messages does the Ambassador emphasize?
The 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2nd is an opportunity for us to review the heroic history of the nation. Looking back at the historical journey over the past 80 years, we are always deeply aware that every victory in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam today is closely linked to the support and assistance of friendly and fraternal countries, including the valuable, timely, righteous, wholehearted and effective support and assistance of the Party, State and people of the fraternal Lao ethnic groups.
The Lao revolution and the Vietnamese revolution have a close relationship. The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, which share the same origin as the Indochinese Communist Party, have led the revolutions of the two countries to complete the struggle for national liberation and unification in each country and are now continuing to firmly advance on the path of building socialism.
Vietnam and Laos are in the process of development and deep international integration with many advantages from internal strength and international environment, but also face many difficulties and challenges.
In the solemn atmosphere of the country celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2, I always hope that the people of the two countries will continue to inherit the tradition of the special Vietnam-Laos solidarity and fighting alliance, maintain faith in the leadership of the two Parties, stand shoulder to shoulder, support and help each other, and complement each other's advantages for mutual development.
In particular, we need to be clearly aware of the responsibility to join hands in preserving and developing the special “unique” relationship to a new height, so that this relationship will be “forever green, forever sustainable”, “deeper than the waters of the Red River and Mekong River”, “more durable than mountains and rivers, brighter than the full moon, more fragrant than the most fragrant flower” as the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and beloved President Souphanouvong always wished, thereby serving the interests of the two peoples, making an important contribution to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
Thank you very much Ambassador!
