
Also in attendance were Mr. Le Quang Tung, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, full-time National Assembly delegates of the 15th term, and representatives from central agencies and leaders of Can Tho city.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong extended his best wishes to the priests, monks, and parishioners of the Can Tho Diocese for a peaceful and happy Christmas season and for a healthy, happy, and successful New Year 2026.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly stated that each Christmas season is not only a holiday for Catholics but also an opportunity for the community to spread universal human values such as: values of peace, love and charity, upholding human dignity, family bonds, goodwill, and social responsibility... These values are not only spread during the Christmas season but have become a regular way of life for Catholics and people throughout the country.
In its legislative work, deciding on important national issues under the leadership of the Party, and with the spirit of putting the people at the center of all decisions, the Vietnamese National Assembly also adheres to these humanitarian values. The Party, the State, and the people highly appreciate and acknowledge the contributions of Catholic compatriots, priests, and religious figures to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Catholic compatriots have walked alongside the nation, lived the Gospel within the nation, and practiced "a good life and a beautiful faith."
The parishes and deaneries of the Can Tho Diocese also maintain close ties with local Party committees and authorities to implement tasks related to socio-economic development, national defense, security, and participation in local foreign affairs activities. They consistently support the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations, in order to better care for the lives of the people.

Father PL Nguyen Van Vinh, Parish Priest of the Bishop's Residence Parish in the Can Tho Diocese, expressed his joy at welcoming the leaders of the National Assembly and the delegation to visit and offer Christmas greetings at the Bishop's Residence. According to Father PL Nguyen Van Vinh, the Can Tho Diocese currently comprises Can Tho city and Ca Mau province, with 142 parishes of varying sizes.
Over the past period, the Can Tho Diocese has always been conscious of and strived to effectively implement the motto "Living the Gospel in the heart of the nation to serve the happiness of our compatriots," actively participating in charitable and social activities, education, healthcare, environmental protection, and social welfare, contributing to the local efforts to care for the poor and vulnerable and build national unity.

On behalf of the Bishopric, Father PL Nguyen Van Vinh expressed gratitude to the central agencies and the leaders of Can Tho city for their continued attention and support in facilitating the stable and lawful religious activities of the Diocese, contributing to strengthening the spirit of national unity.
On this occasion, the delegation also visited and presented gifts to Bishop Tri Buu Thien and the priests and religious at the St. Joseph Retirement Home under the Can Tho Diocese.
