Can Tho women and their journey of "5 no's, 3 clean, 3 safe"

The campaign to build families based on the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness, and 3 Safeties" principles is being implemented by the Women's Union of Can Tho City at all levels through many practical models. This not only contributes to environmental protection and the development of a civilized lifestyle, but also spreads the spirit of sharing, building happy families, and creating green, clean, and beautiful residential areas.

The Women's Union of Chau Thanh commune has implemented many models that promote a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment.

The campaign to build families based on the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness, and 3 Safeties" aims at the following criteria: "5 No's" (no poverty, no domestic violence, no violations of the law and social evils, no waste, no malnourished or school-dropping children), "3 Cleanliness" (clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley), and "3 Safeties" (safety, peace of mind, and well-being). Based on these criteria, local Women's Union branches flexibly develop appropriate models, creating a ripple effect in the community.

In Chau Thanh district, the Women's Union has established a "Green House" model in Thi Tran and Phu Nhon hamlets, and at Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Secondary School in Phu Xuan A hamlet. Through this model, officials and members guide residents in sorting waste at source, collecting plastic bottles and scrap paper, etc., to sell and raise funds for social welfare.

Nguyen Thao My, a student at Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Secondary School, shared: “Since the ‘Green House’ project was established, my friends and I have developed the habit of sorting waste and collecting plastic bottles to participate in the model. This not only helps protect the environment but also contributes to supporting students in difficult circumstances.”

In addition, the Women's Union of Chau Thanh commune also implemented the "Flower-lined Road, Clean House" model in Dong Binh hamlet. Members mobilized residents to plant over 1,200 bougainvillea trees along a nearly 2km stretch of road; and distributed 170 trash bins for households to sort waste at source. Thanks to the joint efforts of the people, the road is even brighter, greener, cleaner, and more beautiful.

In Dong Phuoc commune, the Women's Union proactively coordinated with the Phuoc Hung hamlet Party branch to cultivate 1,000 bougainvillea seedlings to serve the "Flower Road - Clean House - Safe Home" project for the entire commune. Ms. Le Thi Choi, President of the Women's Union, said: "Instead of buying seedlings to plant along the roads, we proactively created a local source of seedlings to save costs and ensure long-term sustainability. Currently, many rural roads are gradually taking on a fresh green color."

Meanwhile, the Women's Union of Vi Thanh ward launched the model "Women in Business Implementing Food Safety and Hygiene" in Area 4. Participating members committed to complying with regulations in food processing and preservation, and also became communicators encouraging other businesses to do the same. In Cai Khe, the Women's Union flexibly linked the campaign to build "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness, 3 Safety" families with the building of a civilized urban area and digital transformation.

Ms. Duong Thi Kim Hanh, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of the ward, expressed: "Not only focusing on building a beautiful environment, the Women's Union, in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward, is implementing the 'United, Prosperous, and Happy Residential Area' model linked to digital transformation. Through this, we contribute to improving the material and spiritual lives of the people."

The reality shows that women in Can Tho today not only keep the family home warm but also act as "green nuclei" protecting the environment. The simple yet persistent actions of the city's women have contributed and continue to contribute to building a civilized, green, clean, and beautiful Can Tho city.
