Pogba, Fati 'disappeared' again in Monaco

Monaco fans were disappointed when two new players Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati were not on the list of players for the friendly match against Nottingham Forest on July 19.

Pogba has not been able to make his Monaco debut.

Pogba and Fati have yet to make their Monaco debuts, having officially joined the new club earlier this month. In Monaco’s 5-0 win over Coventry City on July 17, the two stars were also left out of coach Adi Hutter’s squad.

Previously, coach Hutter emphasized that Pogba and Fati are having difficulty achieving their best physical condition due to lack of training and high-intensity competition in recent times. He affirmed that the two new players of Monaco will gradually adapt to the playing style and play with their new teammates before the official match.

Pogba signed a two-year contract with Monaco. He hopes to regain his form to compete for the opportunity to play in the 2026 World Cup with the French team.

Following Pogba's debut, Roger Caibe Rodriguez, the midfielder's fitness coach, responded to public skepticism. In an interview with Le Parisien , Rodriguez said: "Pogba is now quicker, his perception of the game and his influence on the game have improved."

Monaco still have two friendlies before the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season kicks off. The team will face Arminia Bielefeld on July 26 and Ajax on August 3. These could be the last chances for Pogba and Fati to gain playing time before the new season begins.

In round 1 of Ligue 1 2025/26, Monaco meets Le Havre on August 17.
