From small, affordable shops to supermarkets, shopping malls, and bookstores, the market for Children's Day gifts is diverse, with many designs and styles. Parents can freely choose from toys, school supplies, fashion items, books, personal care products, and more. According to some shop owners and small traders in Rach Gia ward, the demand for children's toys increases in the last days of May because it's the time when children have just finished the school year and International Children's Day is approaching. Parents often buy these as rewards for their children. The purchasing power has been higher in recent days than usual.
From mid-May, the market for children's gifts started to liven up. Many souvenir shops, toy stores, and children's clothing stores began stocking up on items to meet customer demand. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, owner of a toy store on Lam Quang Ky Street, Rach Gia Ward, shared: "This year's International Children's Day falls at the end of the school year, so parents are looking to buy useful and interesting gifts to give as a holiday gift and as rewards for their children."
Children's toys, designed with diverse styles and features suitable for different age groups, range from affordable to high-end, attracting many parents. Surveys show that toy prices have not increased significantly this year. Parents are concerned about quality and safety for their children. Many items are affordably priced, commonly remote-controlled cars, robots, dolls, and stuffed animals, costing from a few tens to a few hundred thousand dong. Besides affordable products, high-end toys that support skill and intellectual development, priced from a few hundred thousand to several million dong, are also popular gift choices for parents.
Choosing a gift for her son, Ms. Dang Kim Nhan, residing in Rach Gia ward, shared: “The gift market has many designs. After researching, I decided to buy a set of jigsaw puzzles, number puzzles, coloring books, and a model car as a gift for my son on International Children's Day, and also as a gift for him after his first school year.”
In addition, many parents tend to choose books, stories, and school supplies as gifts for their children because of their high practicality. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Vinh, residing in Thanh Loc commune, shared: “On June 1st, depending on my economic situation, I always give gifts to my children. This year, my child is in 2nd grade, so I gave her books, both to create a reading habit and to help her supplement her knowledge. I also chose a few school supplies so she can write and draw for fun during the summer.”
Along with traditional items, some souvenir shops are creating many new products to attract buyers. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Kieu, owner of a souvenir shop on 3 Thang 2 Street, Rach Gia Ward, said: “This year, my shop has created products such as gift sets including bouquets of flowers, cake towers made from teddy bears, candies, milk, etc., with prices ranging from 40,000 to 400,000 VND depending on customer needs. For about two weeks now, there have been many orders, so I've been busy packing to keep up with demand.”
According to shop owners, demand for children's products is currently increasing, with more and more customers as June 1st approaches, and the number of customers expected to double on June 1st itself...
