Yuanhai Kou, the world's largest solar-powered car carrier, has just completed its maiden voyage to Europe with 4,000 Chinese vehicles. This giant ship, nearly 200 meters long and weighing more than 68,000 tons, is operated by a solar energy system combined with LNG, saving 20% of energy.
Each year, the ship's solar power system produces about 410,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to planting 38,000 trees. Low-emission technology helps Yuanhai Kou reduce up to 2,100 tons of CO₂ per round trip, marking a turning point for China's green transport industry.
Intelligent software with real-time monitoring and early fire warning helps to protect the safety of new energy vehicles during long sea journeys. The ship can transport up to 7,000 vehicles thanks to its 12-deck system, reducing the shipping time from China to Europe by one-third compared to the traditional way. High-efficiency Sea-Shield solar panels perform reliably in harsh conditions such as salt spray and ocean turbulence.
With 20 vessels in the fleet, COSCO has built China's largest international car carrier fleet, poised to lead the global green shipping revolution. Readers are invited to watch more videos : Iris scanning tool to verify human identity | VTV24
