The Polish army only had enough weapons to fight for two weeks in the event of an attack on its territory.
In a media interview on March 26, the head of Poland's National Security Service, Dariusz Lukowski, stated that the army only had enough weapons to hold out for two weeks if attacked, before allied forces arrived to provide support, according to The Kyiv Independent .

"Depending on how the war unfolds, the defense could last for one to two weeks based on current weapon stockpiles," Lukowski said.
The official acknowledged that the Polish army still uses older equipment and weapons alongside modern ones. However, the weapons shortage only affects older systems, while new systems are readily available.
Mr. Lukowski stated that Poland has supplied Ukraine with a significant amount of weapons, but stressed that this was a carefully calculated move while new weapons are being added to the supply.
Previously, opposition political groups in Poland criticized the state of defense production in the country, claiming that Warsaw only had enough ammunition to fight for five days. When asked about this, Mr. Lukowski said that the duration depended on the type of weapon and ammunition.

The official argued that Poland would have ample time to restore its military capabilities while Ukraine fought against Russian forces.

To bolster defense capabilities, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk recently announced that the number of soldiers deployed along the border with Belarus has increased to 11,000. In March, Tusk also introduced a voluntary military training program for all adult men, according to the Militarnyi website.
Meanwhile, President Andrzej Duda had previously called on the US to deploy nuclear weapons in Poland as a deterrent.
