To prepare for the implementation of the Song Doc Model Fishing Port, the Provincial Military Command has coordinated with relevant agencies and units to grasp the situation of the arrangement and layout of the Song Doc Fishing Port, installed and put into use 04 surveillance cameras at the Song Doc Fishing Port and 02 cameras at the Song Doc Border Control Station to monitor fishing vessels entering and leaving the port, ensuring security and order in the port area.
At the same time, urgently arrange and set up each anchorage area according to each operating area including: Offshore area, offshore area, coastal area for fishing vessels currently operating in the locality; anchorage area for fishing vessels not qualified to leave port, fishing vessels from other localities, fishing vessels waiting to leave port, fishing vessels newly entering port... On the other hand, regularly coordinate with units to inspect and control fishing vessels coming into and leaving port and trace the origin of aquatic products.
Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen highly appreciated the survey and implementation of Song Doc Model Fishing Port of Military Region 9.
At the inspection and survey session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen emphasized: Song Doc is one of the most bustling localities in the Mekong Delta region, playing an important role in developing the marine economy and ensuring fishing logistics of Ca Mau province in particular and the Mekong Delta in general. The Military Region's survey of Song Doc Fishing Port for the Ministry of National Defense to deploy the construction of a model fishing port is not only an honor, but also contributes to improving the capacity of managing and monitoring fishing vessels, creating conditions for localities to visit, study and share experiences in implementing solutions to prevent and combat IUU fishing.
Major General Quach Van Nho, Deputy Commander of Military Region 9, delivered a concluding speech at the survey.
Speaking at the inspection and survey session, Major General Quach Van Nho acknowledged the locality's efforts in strengthening control of fishing vessels entering and leaving the port, implementing traceability of aquatic products, installing voyage monitoring equipment and propagating and mobilizing fishermen to strictly comply with legal regulations on aquatic exploitation, meeting the requirements of sustainable and effective fisheries management, contributing to combating illegal fishing, moving towards removing the "yellow card" of the European Commission (EC) for Vietnamese aquatic products.
Major General Quach Van Nho requested the Provincial Military Command to closely coordinate with relevant units to prepare a detailed report on the implementation of the Song Doc Model Fishing Port for the Ministry of National Defense to review, comment on and have a plan and plan to prepare carefully for implementation, thereby contributing to the protection of aquatic resources, sustainable development of the marine economy associated with ensuring national defense and security at sea.
