(sonla.gov.vn) In recent years, Son La province has focused on expanding the development of trade and services to meet the modern shopping needs of its people, and has made a significant contribution to local economic growth.

Son La province is located in the central part of the Northwest region, occupying a strategic and extremely important position as a gateway connecting Hanoi and the provinces of the Red River Delta with the Northwest, and also connecting with the northern provinces of Laos - the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Son La province has 10 national highways totaling over 900 km, including: National Highway 6 (including the bypass), National Highway 6B, National Highway 32B, National Highway 37, National Highway 43, National Highway 279, National Highway 4G, National Highway 12, National Highway 6C, and National Highway 279D. The route passes through the area, facilitating trade connections with neighboring provinces such as Dien Bien , Lai Chau, and Phu Tho. In recent years, the province has focused on encouraging households to expand their businesses, contributing to increased income for the people.

To develop trade and services in the province, businesses and households are encouraged to invest in building supermarkets and shopping centers, and expanding their businesses. Simultaneously, favorable conditions regarding administrative procedures and business premises are created to facilitate businesses, organizations, and individuals expanding their investment in trade and services. The campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" is being widely implemented. Market control, combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit and substandard goods are being strengthened to ensure a healthy market for stable business development. Along main roads and in the centers of communes and wards, trade and services are thriving, with numerous grocery stores, restaurants, electronics supermarkets, etc., meeting the needs of the people.

In the wards of Tô Hiệu, Chiềng Cơi, Chiềng Sinh, and Chiềng An, there is 1 Vincom Plaza shopping center; 1 Vinmart supermarket chain, 9 Winmart+ stores; 9 specialized supermarkets (electronics, mobile devices); 33 convenience stores and general merchandise stores; and 4 stores showcasing local specialties and OCOP products. Along with 13 traditional markets, supermarkets, shopping centers, convenience stores, self-service stores, and chain retail systems are rapidly increasing in number and scale, effectively meeting the shopping and consumption needs of the people.

In addition, in the communes and wards throughout the province, there are thousands of shops and commercial and service establishments, such as supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, tourism businesses, food production and trading establishments, agricultural product processing and purchasing businesses, transportation businesses, and automobile and motorcycle repair shops. The system of markets, supermarkets, and commercial centers has been modernized and combined with the trend of digital transformation, helping to improve service quality and create favorable conditions for trade, stimulating production and consumption. To promote trade activities, functional agencies actively organize events and trade fairs; support connections for businesses and cooperatives to participate in exhibitions, introductions, and promotion of typical and characteristic products. The province always pays attention to and creates favorable conditions in terms of administrative procedures and land for organizations and individuals to invest in the development of trade and services, meeting the needs of the people. We encourage investment in the construction of supermarkets and shopping centers, and the upgrading of commercial infrastructure. With many synchronized solutions, commercial and service activities in our province have developed strongly. Along with the construction of key transportation routes, the province will have many advantages to develop trade and services when the transportation system is invested in synchronously, connecting conveniently with localities in the region. At the same time, the province is actively attracting large enterprises to invest in commercial, service, and logistics infrastructure. Expanding trade and services not only contributes to meeting the modern shopping needs of the people but also makes a significant contribution to local economic growth.
