Launching the Vietnamese Community Liaison Committee in the Republic of Austria

The Liaison Committee was established after a long process of gathering and connecting associations, groups and generations of Vietnamese people in Austria.

On August 16, at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Austria, under the witness of Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang and Embassy officials, representatives of associations and groups in the Vietnamese community in Austria held the Establishment Ceremony and launched the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese community in Austria, approving the Rules, regulations and personnel participating in the Liaison Committee.

Accordingly, the personnel participating in the Liaison Committee include 10 members who are typical overseas Vietnamese individuals, representing associations and groups in the community including: Hai Phong Association, Women's Association, Student Association, Vietnamese Association, Business Association, Buddhist Association and Vietnamese Intellectual Group in the Republic of Austria.

The Vietnamese Community Liaison Committee in the Republic of Austria was established after a long process of gathering and connecting associations, groups and generations of Vietnamese people in Austria, as well as in the community connection work of the Embassy.

This is an important milestone in the development of the Vietnamese community to strengthen the connection between associations and groups of Vietnamese people and Vietnamese origin in the Republic of Austria and towards building and establishing a Vietnamese Association in the Republic of Austria when all conditions are met.

Speaking at the establishment and launch ceremony of the Liaison Committee, Ms. Dinh Thi Kim Dung, Head of the Liaison Committee, reviewed the main features of the history of formation and development of the Vietnamese community in Austria, the process of establishing associations and groups in the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Austria up to now, and the foundations and conditions leading to the unification of the Liaison Committee.

Ms. Dinh Thi Kim Dung affirmed that the Liaison Committee will unite and cooperate to connect and build an increasingly strong Vietnamese community, looking towards the homeland and country and accompanying the Embassy in community work in the host country.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang congratulated and appreciated the community associations and groups for agreeing to establish a Liaison Committee.

Affirming that the connection and coordination between the community and the Embassy is increasingly close and effective, especially in recent years, the work of the Embassy with the Community has many connections, spreading positively and clearly, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang emphasized three messages that the Community Liaison Committee needs to continue to promote, which are solidarity, mutual love and looking towards the homeland in the era of national development.

The Vietnamese community in Austria currently has more than 7,000 people living, working and studying, of which nearly 4,000 people of Vietnamese origin have acquired Austrian citizenship.

They live mainly in the capital Vienna, Linz, Salzburg, Graz and came to Austria under different historical circumstances and conditions; always integrate well and strictly comply with policies and laws, and are highly appreciated by local authorities for their contributions to the construction and development of local society.
