The opening match is always crucial. A good result on the opening day will boost the confidence of the Vietnam U19 team significantly. At the same time, Coach Hua Hien Vinh's team needs to capitalize on the opportunity to accumulate points. Because in the second match, the Vietnam U19 team will face a very strong opponent, Australia U19, a team that will be a direct competitor for a semi-final spot in Group B.

However, securing all three points against Myanmar is predicted to be a difficult task for the Vietnam U19 team. In every tournament, the first match is always tough. Furthermore, the Myanmar U19 team is considered a rather unpredictable opponent.

Vietnam U.19 held their only training session in Indonesia before their opening match.

Before competing in the 2024 Southeast Asian U.19 Championship, coach Hua Hien Vinh affirmed: "The Vietnam U.19 team has completed its preparation phase and is ready to enter the 2024 Southeast Asian U.19 Championship. I think that not only the Vietnam U.19 team but all the teams participating in this tournament share the same goal: to win. Besides that, we also want to learn more about the playing styles of other teams, especially strong teams like Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. We will strive in every match and try to achieve the best possible results."

Yesterday afternoon (July 17th), the Vietnam U19 team visited the Gelora 10 November stadium to get a better feel for the pitch and playing space. Afterwards, Coach Hua Hien Vinh's team held their only training session before facing Myanmar U19 tonight (July 18th). Because preparations were completed early, the coaching staff only gave a moderate training program, mainly focusing on helping the players overcome fatigue and recover their physical condition. In addition, Coach Hua Hien Vinh and his staff also reinforced some important tactical aspects for the opening match.
