In recent days, news of the discovery of 600 types of counterfeit milk by authorities has spread widely on social media, causing concern and panic among consumers. Accordingly, to tighten management of this product in Ca Mau province, provincial authorities have launched an inspection campaign targeting milk businesses throughout the area. This is also one of the key tasks emphasized during the province's "Month of Action for Food Safety".
Accordingly, the inter-agency food safety inspection team of the province inspected and reviewed milk products being sold in Ca Mau City. This included checking the business licenses of the stores; inspecting prohibited products from the 11 companies producing and selling counterfeit milk that had been discovered by the authorities; checking self-declared product quality standards; product labeling, expiration dates of the milk products, and ensuring hygienic display areas.
The provincial inter-agency inspection team is intensifying inspections of dairy product businesses throughout the province.

Observations at dairy stores reveal that each store stocks dozens of different types of milk with various brands, designs, and uses, ranging from domestic to foreign brands. However, the product declaration and self-declaration documents, along with the quality control standards for each brand, are often incomplete. Furthermore, some brands advertise in a way that doesn't match their declared claims…
During the inspection and monitoring process, it was discovered that some businesses still had shortcomings, including a lack of understanding among business owners regarding the declared and self-declared documentation for dairy products.
Currently, the market is flooded with hundreds of types of milk, offering a wide range of benefits and suitable for various age groups.
Mr. Hoang Ly Tuong, Head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department and Deputy Head of the inter-agency inspection team, assessed: “Implementing the plan for the “Month of Action for Food Safety” and the official letter from the Chairman of the People's Committee on reviewing nutritional and functional foods, especially milk products circulating in the province; through the inspection days, up to this point, the inspection teams have not found any milk products from the 11 companies that are banned from circulation. However, during the inspection and monitoring process, it was found that some businesses still have some shortcomings, including a lack of understanding of the declaration and self-declaration documents of the business owners regarding milk products. Accordingly, the team provided guidance on how to preserve and identify nutritional and supplementary milk products to ensure proper and compliant business operations.”
Mr. Le Hai Bac, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Health and Deputy Head of the Inter-agency Inspection Team, along with other members of the inspection team, inspected milk businesses in Ward 9, Ca Mau City, regarding the list of 600 types of counterfeit milk recently discovered by authorities.
According to Mr. Hoang Ly Tuong, Head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department and Deputy Head of the inter-agency inspection team, the inspection teams have not yet found any milk products from the 11 companies currently banned from circulation in the province. The team members also inspected all types of nutritional milk and supplemental milk at the stores.
It is known that previously, the Investigation Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security discovered a large-scale network producing, trading, and distributing counterfeit milk powder in Hanoi and neighboring provinces. In particular, more than 600 types of milk produced and sold by 11 companies did not meet standards.
