Home ground advantage helped U17 Vietnam have an extremely impressive performance at the 2026 U17 Asian Qualifiers.

Coach Cristiano Roland and his team had a 6-0 victory over U16 Singapore in the opening match, then won 14-0 against U17 Northern Mariana Islands, 2-0 against Hong Kong (China), 4-0 against Macau (China) and 4-0 against U17 Malaysia.
In particular, the big win against U17 Malaysia - a direct competitor for the next round and having won the previous 4 matches, showed the great strength and potential of young Vietnamese players.

Beating Malaysia, U17 Vietnam won a ticket to the 2026 AFC U17 Championship
At this tournament, U17 Vietnam received many compliments from fans for their beautiful coordination and the appearance of many promising players.
Coach Cristiano Roland and his team's qualifying achievement is the most meaningful gift to the fans who have always supported them, and is a solid foundation for bigger goals in the future.
With the achievement of passing the 2026 AFC U17 Qualifiers, the national U17 team is also the sixth Vietnamese football team to qualify for the Asian Finals after the Vietnam U23 team, the men's Futsal team, the Vietnam women's team, the women's U17 team and the women's U20 team.
The performance of the U17 Vietnam players was even more impressive than the above teams when they had to play 5 matches with a frequency of 2 matches/day. Coach Cristiano Roland and his team won all 5 matches, scoring 30 goals and not conceding any.

“We deserved what we achieved. We showed that we are very strong. As I said from the beginning, our mindset is always game by game, game by game. Make a plan, show the players the way and they execute it.
I am a very happy coach. My job is to teach and show the way for them. And they have done an excellent job. They are really great. All my players deserve to be congratulated,” coach Cristiano Roland expressed his pride and happiness at his players’ performance.
The record of winning all matches and keeping a clean sheet not only has meaning in terms of results, but also opens up great confidence for the future of youth football in the country.
This is clear evidence that domestic training centers, along with a methodical investment strategy from the Vietnam Football Federation, are being effective.

Outstanding faces of U17 Vietnam such as Manh Cuong, Anh Hao, Van Duong, Sy Bach, Nguyen Luc, Minh Thuy,... are important resources to supplement the team levels in the coming years.
Winning the right to enter the 2026 AFC U17 Championship with convincing performance also helps U17 Vietnam become one of the most highly rated teams in the region.
At the same time, this success is a source of pride for fans, because it shows that Vietnamese football not only makes an impression at the national team or U23 level, but also possesses a youth football foundation full of potential and sustainability.
The journey ahead is still long, but with a solid foundation, high fighting spirit and the leadership of coach Cristiano Roland, U17 Vietnam can completely aim to make a mark at the 2026 AFC U17 Championship.
