The new Godzilla, Kong part is set a few years after the battle between the two legendary monsters in Godzilla vs Kong (2021). At this time, Kong returns to his homeland on the Hollow Earth, discovers the whereabouts of his kind, and continues a peaceful relationship with humans. Meanwhile, Godzilla protects the surface world from the attacks of some Titans (super monsters).

The danger gradually appears when Dr. Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall) of Monarch - an organization specializing in Titan research - detects increasingly strong tremors in the core of the Earth. When going underground, she and her colleagues discover traces of ancient civilization. At the same time, the evil forces here rise, led by Skar King - a Titan with the shape of Kong. Skar King also has a henchman named Shimo, a giant monster with the ability to freeze the entire city with its breath. Godzilla and Kong are forced to put aside their conflicts to prevent the world from entering the second ice age.

Director Adam Wingard uses his strengths in special effects and setting to attract audiences. The fighting scenes between the Titans are interspersed between the film's episodes, while also increasing the scale and ferocity. The film's plot mainly revolves around Kong, a monster with emotions and a high connection to humans.

The danger of the villain line is planted in many details from the beginning of the film, such as the giant handprint on the cliff. Not only does Skar King have superior strength, he also has a cunning and evil mind, controlling Kong's kind to make them slaves, using a whip made from the enemy's spine. In the second half of the film, the appearance of a super monster creates drama, contributing to changing the situation.

The Hollow Earth setting is more vivid and expansive than in the previous film. The underground world appears on the big screen as an ancient planet with strange creatures. In contrast to the primeval forests where Kong lives, Skar King's empire is portrayed as a hell with erupting volcanoes and animal bones everywhere. The habitat of the Iwi - a primitive tribe capable of communicating with the Titans - is a series of colorful quartz. On the ground, the director chose famous monuments as the battle sites of the Titans, such as the statue of Christ with open arms in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Despite the impressive special effects, the script is not groundbreaking with predictable developments . The story of Kong's origin is exploited quite thoroughly. At the beginning of the film, Kong is introduced sitting alone on a cliff, lost in his own kingdom. Later, the character has a powerful assistant - a baby monkey - on his journey to fight evil, following the motif of "unwilling duo".

Like Godzilla vs Kong , the film has many segments between Kong and humans to increase the connection between the two characters. Jia (Kaylee Hottle) - a girl from the Iwi tribe - plays a key role in the process of the group of characters learning about the origin of Kong and the Titans. Continuing to participate in the new part, Kaylee Hottle has more "room" to act when portraying the unstable psychology of a teenage girl. While confused by the question "Who am I", Jia received protection from Ilene Andrews, her adoptive mother in the previous part. However, the relationship between the two is still vague, mainly added to increase the humanistic message of the film.

On the Rotten Tomatoes website, the film received a low score from critics, with 55% "fresh tomatoes" out of more than 160 expert reviews. Empire newspaper rated the film's climax as "a mess", and the characters on the human side were superficial. However, the film satisfied many viewers, receiving 92% positive scores from the audience.
