A lively competition for wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) to offer to the National Ancestor.

(Baohatinh.vn) - A competition to select the most beautiful and delicious banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) to offer to the National Ancestor Hung Vuong on the anniversary of his death was held in Nam Hong Linh ward (Ha Tinh province).

As part of the activities for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day in 2026, on the morning of April 25th, the Women's Union of Nam Hong Linh ward, in coordination with the Farmers' Association of the ward and Victory Investment Joint Stock Company, organized a competition for wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) to offer to the National Ancestors.

Nine teams participated in the competition, representing women's associations, farmers' associations, agencies, and businesses in Nam Hong Linh ward, as well as the Personnel and Organization Department, the Civil Enforcement Police, and the Judicial Support Department (Provincial Police). In the competition, each team will wrap and cook 70 banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes). Between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM on the same day, the teams will wrap and cook nearly 650 banh chung.

The ingredients used to wrap the banh chung (Vietnamese rice cakes) were selected by the teams to ensure food safety and hygiene.

With skillful hands, the teams wrapped beautiful banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) to offer to the National Ancestor.

The cakes are placed in a pot and cooked for 7-8 hours.

This is a highly meaningful activity aimed at fostering national pride and expressing gratitude to our ancestors who contributed to the homeland, the nation, and national peace and prosperity.

The competition also serves as an opportunity to promote and introduce to tourists and locals the cultural identity of Ha Tinh province in general, and the Dai Hung historical and cultural relic site in Nam Hong Linh ward in particular.

According to the plan, this afternoon, the Organizing Committee of the competition will score and award prizes to the teams that won first, second, third, and consolation prizes.
