Having just finalized the order for several Tet gift baskets to give to relatives, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung (in Zone 10, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, Hai Duong City) felt a great sense of relief because she had almost completed her preparations for Tet.

"In previous years, two days after my work break, I would spend all my time shopping for Tet (Lunar New Year), from buying sweets, fruits, and alcoholic beverages to peach blossoms, kumquats, and new clothes for the whole family, and then buying Tet gifts for relatives on both sides of the family. Afterward, I would rush back to clean the house, so I was always exhausted. Since last year, I've chosen to shop for Tet online, which has made things much easier," said Ms. Dung. For the past two weeks, she has spent time researching on e-commerce platforms like Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok to select the necessary items for Tet, adding them to her shopping cart in advance. She just waits for stores to offer discounts and platforms to provide year-end promotions before placing her orders. According to Ms. Dung, online shopping saves a lot of time compared to shopping directly at stores or supermarkets.

Also a fan of online shopping, Ms. Do Thanh Ngan (Zone 6, Tan Binh Ward, Hai Duong City) has also done a thorough Tet shopping spree. Ms. Ngan said: "Instead of having to go to several stores to buy enough things for Tet like every year, now I can just sit at home and place an order to buy everything I need. E-commerce platforms and many online shops all have home delivery programs with free or subsidized shipping, so I still prefer buying online."

Besides the convenience of shopping and numerous promotional programs, the ease of choosing and comparing prices across multiple stores is one of the reasons why many people are increasingly favoring online Tet shopping. "Whenever I need to buy something, I go to e-commerce platforms to search and compare prices. Recently, Shopee and TikTok shops have been offering great discount codes for purchases made during livestreams, so I often choose items in advance and wait for their livestreams to buy and save money," shared Ms. Hoang Thi Nga (from Zone 5, Phu Thu town, Kinh Mon district).

It's not just young people who prioritize shopping for Tet (Lunar New Year) online; many middle-aged people are also interested in this trend. Ms. Truong Thi Thuy (from Thuong Dat, Hai Duong City) recently received an order for several kilograms of Thai Nguyen tea from a store in Hanoi . Ms. Thuy happily shared: "While watching YouTube, I accidentally saw an advertisement for this tea shop and ordered 1 kg to try. I'm quite satisfied because the tea is delicious, the price is reasonable, and the store even gave me an extra 100 grams as a promotion to introduce to customers. After that, I placed two more orders. This Tet, I bought 4 kg of the special tea to give to relatives. Because I'm a regular customer, the store even gave me an extra half kilogram of the premium tea as a promotion."

Online shopping has become a trend, but not everyone is happy when they receive online orders.

Last Tet (Vietnamese New Year), Ms. Dung had a rather bad experience when she received an order of dried buffalo meat from a shop on Facebook. "I bought it during the shop's livestream. They advertised it as a special product, fresh, delicious buffalo meat, raised using traditional methods. But when I received it, I was disappointed because it had no flavor at all," Ms. Dung said.

After that unpleasant experience, Ms. Dung did some research and, when she needed to buy local specialties, she only ordered from stores recommended by the Department of Industry and Trade or local newspapers.

Ms. Ngan said that when shopping on e-commerce platforms, she often looks for mall stores or stores with a large number of followers, products with high sales volume and many positive reviews. Before buying anything, she always carefully reads the reviews of previous buyers to make a suitable choice.

With the increasing development of e-commerce, many unscrupulous individuals are exploiting this trend to sell counterfeit, fake, and unverified goods. Therefore, in addition to strengthened management by relevant authorities, people need to choose reputable shopping sites and quality products to ensure a joyful and warm Tet holiday.
