Inventing an automatic pesticide spraying robot, a group of students from VNUA won first prize in the startup competition.

Surpassing 110 startup projects across the country, project CK09: Agricutural Robot (Automatic pesticide spraying robot) of a group of students from the Robotics and Technology Club (Vietnam Academy of Agriculture ) has won first prize at the "Innovative agricultural startup 2024" competition.

Automation solutions to support farmers in the fields

At the final "Battle of Minds" of the "Innovative Agricultural Startup Competition 2024" organized by the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture on the morning of December 26, the CK09 Agricutural Robot project (Automatic pesticide spraying robot) of the student group of the Robot and Technology Club (Vietnam Academy of Agriculture) received great attention and excellently won the first prize.

According to the CK09 project description, Agricutural Robot can replace many farmers in the working process. Instead of having to spray pesticides by hand, robots can operate and perform the task of spraying pesticides accurately and evenly.

The CK 09 Agricutural Robot project (Automatic pesticide spraying robot) of a group of students from the Robot and Technology Club (Vietnam Academy of Agriculture) excellently won the first prize in the "Innovative agricultural startup 2024" contest.

The robot can move flexibly, rotating 360 degrees in place to operate in greenhouses with a small turning area. With a smart spraying system, the robot can adjust the spray flow, spray speed and spray pressure. With the camera in the first version, it can observe, helping the operator track the moving journey. In the second version, intelligent AI image processing technology will be integrated, helping the robot recognize pests on certain types of vegetables, thereby recognizing the area of ​​​​vegetables with pests on the spraying journey, the robot can proactively adjust the increase or decrease of spray flow to help save pesticides.

GPS positioning helps the operator locate the robot's position, thereby programming the robot's travel route to operate fully automatically. At the same time, the robot is equipped with an intelligent spraying system that can adjust the spray angle, spray pressure, spray speed and spray flow. In particular, the robot can be controlled directly on a smartphone or remote control. And the chemical tank can help the robot spray continuously for more than 1 hectare.

Sharing about the idea of ​​forming the project, Nguyen Thanh Nghi - representative of the project team shared that the project originated from the desire to manufacture products with Vietnamese brands, apply them in practice, improve capacity, quality and reduce labor costs.

Besides the automatic pesticide spraying robot project, the CK04 project - Enhancing the value of products from bamboo, combined with orientation for local tourism development was awarded second prize.

Two Third Prizes were awarded to project CK01 - Automatic car wash station business model at universities in Vietnam and project CK05 - ECO-FRIENDLY PELLETBTC food.

Three consolation prizes were awarded to project CK02 - TREVINA - A creative, sustainable, circular bamboo planting model; CK03 - Recycling cardboard CoeBox from coffee grounds; CK08 Loc Thien Y - Products for health.

In addition, the Organizing Committee of the "Innovative Agricultural Startup 2024" Contest awarded the project with the most creative idea to the CK05 ECO - FRIENDLY PELLETBTC food project; the project most loved by the audience was CK08 Loc Thien Y - a product for health.

Fulfilling students' startup dreams

Speaking at the Final Round of the "Innovative Agricultural Startup 2024", Dr. Nguyen Cong Tiep, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, said that, with a deep awareness of the importance of startups among young people and students, since 2014, with the support of VCCI, the National Startup Organizing Committee and the Business Forum Newspaper, the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture has had the initiative to organize the Agricultural Startup program - a program held annually with the goal of contributing to creating a stepping stone to promote the development of the Vietnamese startup community.

From this program, many start-up projects of young people and students have been realized into businesses, cooperatives, ...; thousands of students have been trained, educated in knowledge and skills of starting a business. From 2014 to now, projects of students of Vietnam Academy of Agriculture participating in the national start-up program organized by VCCI, Vietnam Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Ministry of Education and Training have won many high prizes, such as First, Second, Third prizes, Mai An Tiem prize.

Dr. Giang Trung Khoa, Head of Political Affairs and Student Affairs, Head of the Organizing Committee, presented flowers to the two best projects of the competition: CK09 and CK04.

In 2024, for the 10th time, the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture organized the "Innovative Agricultural Startup" competition for students, high school students and young people nationwide. The competition was launched in March 2024 with a series of seminars "Entrepreneurial journey from high school" Okay Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of 26 northern provinces and cities co-organized; next is the "VNUA 2024 Technology Knowledge and Creative Startup" contest for 12th grade students and today is the final round with potential startup projects.

"Since launching the competition, the Organizing Committee has received nearly 110 startup projects from all over the country; after 2 rounds, the 10 best projects have been selected for the final round and this morning, the 4 best project teams will compete in the "Battle of Minds" round. These are projects that are highly appreciated for their quality, creativity, and development potential. The teams that have reached the final have been trained in business models, presentation skills, fundraising skills, and negotiation skills," said Dr. Nguyen Cong Tiep.

The Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture also hopes that students will always maintain their passion and desire to start a business, turning their projects into useful products to serve the community and their homeland.

With a long tradition and results of implementing startup activities among students, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture was honored to be one of three excellent schools nationwide to be awarded the title "Outstanding school in building a startup ecosystem in 2023" by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
