Speaking to reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, Head of Nursing Department of Van Ho Regional General Hospital, said: At about 8:00 a.m. on October 6, the rainwater suddenly rose high, collapsing the wall of a house next to the hospital, causing water to flood into many areas within the hospital grounds.
Due to the sudden flood of water when the wall collapsed, many departments and offices of the hospital were flooded with nearly 1 meter of water. The sudden flood damaged many medical equipment, medicines and facilities.

Along with medical equipment and medicines being submerged in water, many computers, tables, chairs, beds, cabinets, etc. in the departments and rooms on the first floor were also submerged in water. Initial statistics show that the entire computer system was submerged and unusable.
As soon as water flooded into the hospital, staff and doctors promptly and safely moved more than 200 patients and their families to the upper floors.

Present at the scene, Mr. Tran Dan Khoi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thao Nguyen Ward, informed: As soon as receiving the information, Thao Nguyen Ward coordinated with officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, the Defense Command of Moc Chau Region 4 and the on-site forces of the hospital to organize the movement of equipment, clean up, drain water, and overcome the consequences.

By noon of the same day, the floodwaters had begun to recede. Rescue teams are still working hard to clean up, disinfect, and rearrange facilities to soon stabilize medical examination and treatment activities, ensuring the safety of patients and medical staff .

In the face of the above situation, the Son La Provincial Hydrometeorological Station has warned that from now until the next few hours, this convective cloud area will continue to cause showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain in groups and villages in communes and wards. After that, the cloud area will continue to develop, move and spread to groups and villages in the communes of Chieng Hoa, Chieng Lao, Muong Bu, Muong Khieng, Muong La, Muong Sai, and Ngoc Chien.
