In recent days, many parents of Tan An Primary School, Long An Ward, Tay Ninh Province have been upset that the school is selling uniforms to students in the school.
Specifically, uniforms with large sizes are sold for 200,000 VND/set, small sizes for 160,000 VND/set; for gym clothes with large sizes, it is 120,000 VND/set, small sizes for 110,000 VND/set. Meanwhile, in the market, the price is only from 120,000 - 130,000 VND/set.
Parents claim that the principal of Tan An Primary School sells uniforms that do not comply with regulations.
According to parents, selling uniforms in schools is not in accordance with Circular 26 of the Ministry of Education and Training.
On the other hand, the Inspectorate of the Department of Education and Training of Long An province (old) previously concluded that Tan An Primary School violated the regulations in choosing uniform designs without consulting the school board, and choosing a business to supply costumes and uniforms that were not in accordance with Circular 26 of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Accordingly, the school organizes the sale of uniforms in school from number 6 to number 9 at the price of 150,000 VND/set, a difference of 10,000 VND/set; from number 10 to numbers X, M, L is 180,000 VND/set, a difference of 30,000 VND/set. Meanwhile, the contract signed with the enterprise is only 150,000 VND/set. It is worth mentioning that this contract does not have the signature of the representative of Party A (the parents' representative board).
The inspection conclusion also pointed out many limitations and shortcomings of Tan An Primary School. Specifically, in the 2022-2023 school year, the school recruited 81 more first graders; recruited 208 cases without household registration in Ward 2, Tan An City (now Long An Ward). Also in this school year, the school had about 2,000 students.
At the same time, the inspection conclusion also recommended that the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan An City (old) review and determine the responsibility of the Principal of Tan An Primary School. On the other hand, the school must return the difference in uniform costs to parents.
Speaking to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Phan Thi Da Thao - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tay Ninh province - said that the locality and the school have reviewed the responsibility of the Principal of Tan An Primary School. In 2022-2023, the principal only completed the task.
"Regarding the sale of uniforms in schools, the department is coordinating with the People's Committee of Long An ward to inspect and rectify" - Ms. Thao said.
