The first solar eclipse of 2025 is about to occur.

The first solar eclipse of 2025 will take place this weekend, and is expected to be the most spectacular eclipse of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

However, according to Forbes , this solar eclipse also poses a potential danger because the sun is not completely obscured by the moon at any given time. Observing a partially obscured sun can cause eye damage.

The first solar eclipse of 2025

According to scientists , the solar eclipse will take place on March 29th and last for about 4 hours, starting at 8:50 GMT and ending at 12:43 GMT (which is from 3:50 PM to 7:43 PM in Vietnam time).

This phenomenon can be observed in various forms across northeastern North America, Greenland, Iceland, Western Europe, and parts of northern Russia. Detailed information about the observation experience at specific locations can be found on Timeanddate.com's eclipse calculator.

The point of maximum solar eclipse will be located in Akulivik, an Inuit village in Nunavik, northern Quebec, Canada.

Because the sun is never completely obscured, observers must use specialized protective eyewear or a solar filter throughout the observation process. Sunglasses should absolutely not be used. Photographers also need to equip themselves with solar filters to protect their camera sensors.

Places where you can observe the solar eclipse.

Scientists say observers in northeastern America and eastern Canada may witness a spectacular phenomenon as the sun rises partially obscured. To have a chance to observe this event, choose a location with an unobstructed view to the east, ideally on the coast.

Ideal viewing locations include Forestville (Quebec), Saint Andrews (New Brunswick), and Quoddy Head State Park (Maine) – the easternmost point of the United States.

Unfortunately, Vietnam will not be able to observe this solar eclipse.

The next partial solar eclipse will take place on Sunday, September 21st, and will only be visible from the Southern Hemisphere, particularly from Antarctica and New Zealand, where the Moon may obscure up to 73% of the Sun's surface.

This will also be the last partial solar eclipse on Earth until 2029.

North America will witness a partial solar eclipse, while the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, will cover Greenland, Iceland, and Spain.

The next total solar eclipse in the US will occur on March 30, 2033, in Alaska.
