Merge the two colleges into the university without altering their current status.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued a plan to supplement and adjust the plan for organizing and restructuring public non-business units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2024-2025. Accordingly, the Ministry will reorganize by merging the Hanoi College of Economics, Technology and Trade and the Hanoi College of Industrial Economics into universities under the Ministry.
Specifically, the College of Economics, Technology and Commerce will be merged into the University of Electricity; and the Hanoi College of Industrial Economics will be merged into Sao Do University.
According to this plan, the University of Electrical Engineering and Sao Do University will continue to thoroughly implement the Government's resolutions on the establishment, reorganization, and dissolution of public non-business units. In addition, they will continue to thoroughly implement the plan for restructuring public non-business units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2024-2025 and the Ministry of Industry and Trade's directives on the organization and restructuring of training institutions, research institutes, and colleges under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to all cadres, Party members, officials, and employees of the universities…
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has assigned its functional departments and bureaus, as well as its affiliated public service units, to organize and implement the assigned tasks regarding the restructuring of public service units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2024-2025. Specifically, the Department of Organization and Personnel is tasked with continuing to carry out its assigned duties; it will also take the lead in coordinating with other functional departments and bureaus within the ministry and the universities to guide and direct the universities in developing merger plans, submitting them to the Ministry's leadership for consideration, and then reporting to the competent authority for approval.
Change from the plan to merging colleges into other colleges.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is known for having the most universities and colleges under its direct management among current ministries and agencies. Before the restructuring, among the ministry's affiliated units were 33 universities and colleges (9 universities and 24 colleges).
According to the proposed organizational restructuring plan of the Ministry of Industry and Trade submitted to the Ministry of Interior earlier this year, the Ministry plans to merge two institutes into two universities. Specifically, the Institute for Research, Design, and Manufacturing of Agricultural Machinery will be merged into the Vietnam-Hungary University of Industry; and the Institute for Oil and Oilseed Research will be merged into the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.
At the same time, the ministry plans to reorganize eight colleges located in Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, and Hanoi provinces in the 2024-2025 academic year. After the reorganization, the number of colleges will be reduced from eight to four. Specifically, the Thai Nguyen Industrial College will be merged into the College of Commerce and Tourism; the College of Industrial Technology and Economics will be merged into the Vietnam-Germany Industrial College; the Phu Tho College of Industry and Trade will be merged into the College of Food Industry; and the Hanoi College of Industrial Economics will be merged into the College of Economics, Technology and Commerce.
Thus, compared to the beginning of the year, the newly issued plan includes adjustments to the arrangement of two affiliated public institutions: the Hanoi College of Economics, Technology and Commerce and the Hanoi College of Economics and Industry. Instead of merging these two colleges, the new plan proposes merging them into two other universities under the ministry.
