The grassroots agricultural extension force in the province always proactively visits fields to detect plant pests and diseases and instructs people on timely prevention and control methods. |
Over the past week, about 870 hectares of rice in the province have been damaged by pests such as planthoppers, stem borers, blast disease, brown spot disease and rats. They are mainly concentrated in Dong Hy, Dai Tu, Phu Luong, Phu Binh districts and Pho Yen and Song Cong cities.
Despite the complicated weather conditions and prolonged drought, with many positive solutions, Thai Nguyen still managed to plant 28,900 hectares of spring rice, exceeding the plan by 2.5%. Specialized agencies are always proactive in planning and forecasting, so pests and diseases of spring rice have been detected and controlled in a timely manner, not arising or spreading widely and not affecting rice productivity and output.
Regarding tea trees, Thai Nguyen has over 22,000 hectares, of which about 2,200 hectares are currently infected with pests and diseases such as green leafhoppers (about 805 hectares); whiteflies (about 785 hectares); stink bugs (485 hectares); red spiders (115 hectares). The grassroots agricultural extension force has coordinated with local authorities to advise and support people in implementing timely measures to prevent and control pests and diseases that harm tea.
