On the afternoon of October 2nd, Mr. Ha Huy Dong, Chairman of the Dien Chau District Labor Union in Nghe An province , stated that thousands of workers at Viet Glory Co., Ltd. (located in Dien Truong commune, Dien Chau district) had left the company before the afternoon work shift.
"Around 12 PM on October 2nd, after finishing their lunch break, the workers all left simultaneously. Everything proceeded in an orderly manner. Approximately 90% of the company's workers did not return for their afternoon shift," Mr. Dong informed.
Viet Glory Co., Ltd. officially started operations in late 2019, specializing in the production of leather shoes for export. Currently, the company employs approximately 6,000 workers.

The Dien Chau District Labor Union has not received any feedback, suggestions, or requests from the workers.
Based on public opinion, the Chairman of the Dien Chau District Labor Union concluded that the main reason for the workers' collective work stoppage was to protest the company's excessively high production quotas while simultaneously cutting overtime hours.
The workers argue that this has directly impacted their income. In reality, workers are still required to produce high quantities of goods but are not paid for overtime.
"After gathering information from the workers, the Dien Chau District Labor Union worked with the company's leadership. The company is currently reviewing the matter and has not yet offered a specific solution," Mr. Dong said.
Previously, on February 16, 2021 (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), more than 1,400 workers of Viet Glory Co., Ltd. also staged a collective work stoppage to demand their rights. After some of their requests were addressed, the workers returned to work normally on February 18, 2021.
A year later, on February 7, 2022, the first day back to work after the Lunar New Year holiday, nearly 5,000 workers at this company simultaneously stopped working to demand their rights be protected. By February 13, 2022, the workers had returned to work after their demands were addressed by the company, including a 6% increase in basic salary and additional seniority pay for employees who had worked for one year or more.
