Six airports in areas affected by super typhoon Ragasa

On the evening of September 23, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam issued a dispatch to relevant units in the aviation industry to proactively respond to super typhoon Ragasa.

Accordingly, the airports forecast to be affected by super typhoon Ragasa include: Noi Bai, Van Don, Cat Bi International Airports; Tho Xuan, Vinh, Dong Hoi Airports.

The Civil Aviation Authority requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and Van Don International Airport to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system... to promptly detect and handle damages (if any) to ensure the safety of works, stations, and ensure the safety of operations at airports.

Airports deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear water flows in airports, protect facilities, vehicles and equipment at airports, minimize damage caused by rain and storms and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve passenger needs.

The Civil Aviation Authority requested the investor to request the construction contractors to immediately deploy storm response work; identify technical stopping points to stop construction according to the storm's developments; prepare conditions to promptly fix construction incidents, ensure safety, and limit damage caused by storms; arrange 24/7 duty, proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.

Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) directs aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information; continuously monitor weather conditions in the area of ​​responsibility, update forecasts and warnings; and provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.

Airlines closely monitor the developments of super typhoon Ragasa to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly and ensure flight safety; fully update meteorological information from relevant aviation meteorological agencies and based on the actual situation to deploy necessary response actions, minimize impacts on operations, ensure flight safety, protect people and assets of the unit from natural disasters.

Due to the complicated developments of storm Ragasa (storm No. 9), Vietnam Airlines continues to adjust the operating schedule of a number of flights to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

Specifically, on September 23, flight VN580 from Ho Chi Minh City to Kaohsiung (Taiwan, China) had its take-off time adjusted to 3:00 a.m. on September 24; flight VN586 from Hanoi to Kaohsiung (Taiwan, China) had its departure time changed to 3:54 a.m. on September 24.

In addition, Vietnam Airlines will cancel flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong (China); Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Guangzhou (China) on September 23-24.

In addition, on September 24, flights to and from Cat Bi airport (Hai Phong) will adjust take-off and landing times before 11:00.

During this same period, a number of other domestic and international flights may be affected by the storm's impact.
