
As expected, the 33rd SEA Games Opening Ceremony was spectacular, at the pinnacle of technology, using 3D lighting on a modern stage backdrop, recreating unique traditional cultural features symbolizing Thai history.

The "super show" featured more than 5,000 actors, volunteers and artists on the central stage of Rajamangala Stadium.

The art program of the 33rd SEA Games Opening Ceremony consists of 5 chapters. The first chapter takes the audience "back in time" to the origin of the SEA Games when Thailand hosted the first edition in 1959, also in Bangkok.


The host country has recreated the SEA Games that have taken place in history. The first Southeast Asian Games was held in 1959 in Thailand. The “Land of Golden Pagodas” has hosted 7 SEA Games, the most recent of which was in 2007, 18 years ago.

Chapter two shows strength and fighting spirit through various performance technologies, music , sports and lighting. With the performance called "Ignity the game", singer Violette Wautier (Belgian-Thai) and rapper TwoPee are the ones who stir up the stage with vibrant melodies.

Chapter 3 The opening ceremony was titled "The Connection of the Seas". The Rajamangala Stadium was transformed into a giant sea surface thanks to 3D lighting technology. The sea is also the flow connecting 11 Southeast Asian countries.
Chapter 4 brings together many world- famous Thai people, from athletes to beauty queens, artists, stars, singers, musicians and musicians.

Titled “One Spirit”, this was the climax of the opening ceremony, with a performance combining sports with top-notch music on the big stage. The performance of 11 martial arts, including Taekwondo, Muay, Karate, Kabaddi, Judo, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Pencak Silat, Boxing, Wushu and Jujitsu was impressive.
Next up was the performance titled "Thai Warrior". The legendary Thai martial artist Buakaw Banchamek stepped out to perform the national martial art of Muay Thai on the big stage. This was a performance that highlighted the master class, pride and true heart of a true warrior.

Chapter 5 with the theme "Blooming of one victory". The stage is being "burned" by Bambam, a Thai member of the famous Korean band GOT7.
Host Thailand wants the SEA Games to become a bridge to warm the spirit of mutual love and solidarity in the big Southeast Asian family.

After the art program was the parade of the delegations participating in the 33rd SEA Games, in which the Vietnamese and Thai delegations departed last.


The two athletes assigned to carry the flag for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation are Le Thanh Thuy (volleyball) and Le Minh Thuan (Karate).

Next, Thai Prime Minister - Anutin Charnvirakul delivered the opening speech of the 33rd SEA Games. This was followed by a speech by the King of Thailand - Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua talking about the noble spirit of sports.

The flag-raising ceremony and the performance of the Thai national anthem were solemnly held at Rajamangala Stadium. This was the sacred ritual to start the 33rd SEA Games.
Immediately after that, the flag-raising ceremony of the participating countries and the SEA Games flag took place. Along with that was the oath-taking of the athletes and referees.

The torch relay and torch lighting ceremony at the 33rd SEA Games received attention. It is known that the SEA Games torch departed from Bangkok and moved to Chonburi, Songkhla and then Nakhon Ratchasima, with many athletes taking turns holding the torch.

The 28-year-old former female Taekwondo athlete, two-time Olympic champion (2021 and 2024) - Panipak Wongpattanakit was the last torch bearer and lit the flame on the platform. The torch burned on Rajamangala Stadium, signaling the official start of the 33rd SEA Games.
The 33rd SEA Games will take place from December 9 to 20 at three main venues: Chonburi, Bangkok and Songkhla. This Games is expected to have about 9,366 athletes participating, competing in 50 sports.

SEA Games 33 will have a total of 574 sets of medals awarded, 10 sets less than the last SEA Games.
At this congress in Thailand, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation participated with 1,165 members, including 841 athletes, competing in 47/50 sports. The target of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games is to win from 90 to 110 gold medals, ranking in the top 3 leading sports delegations.
