First Lieutenant Pham Tat Thang

In 2023, Pham Tat Thang graduated with honors from the Naval Academy with a degree in electronic and telecommunications engineering, along with numerous technical innovations. He was assigned to work at Brigade 162.

From the very beginning, Thang was passionate about studying radar, information technology, and modern fire control systems – the crucial "electronic eyes" on Navy ships, helping units operate effectively in training and combat readiness.

Recognizing its crucial role, Thang proactively conducted in-depth research into the principles of its construction, from broadcasting and receiving signals to processing and target identification. Based on this foundation, he wrote his own software and purchased components to create visual models that closely resembled the real equipment, helping soldiers understand the nature of the weaponry and handle complex combat situations.

The first significant achievement was the model of a naval radar system that Thang successfully researched, with features similar to the real equipment, effectively supporting basic training. This outstanding product won first prize in the training model competition at the Brigade and Regional levels.

Not stopping there, Thang upgraded the model, synchronizing the radar with the ship's gun system, integrating target tracking, identification, classification, and accurate firing data transmission. This initiative won a high prize at the 2025 Regional Competition and the B prize at the "Nguyen Phan Vinh Youth Innovation Award" of the Navy.

With a daring and innovative spirit, Thang became the driving force behind the Brigade's "Digital Popular Education" movement and digital transformation. He implemented the offline software "Ho Chi Minh's Teachings" to facilitate easy research without the internet; he also led a project on an AI virtual assistant to support Party and political work. Using Python combined with natural language processing, the system quickly, securely, and safely retrieves, synthesizes, and edits information – becoming a modern "digital data repository" that streamlines work methods.

Thang's spirit of self-learning is spreading strongly: he guides his teammates in using software and digital tools daily, helping Brigade 162 lead the "Digital Literacy Movement" in 2025.

Looking to the future, he plans to research training models, modern software, and build a digital learning ecosystem with effective data sharing. "Digital transformation starts with small changes in how we work every day," Thang shared.

These contributions helped Lieutenant Pham Tat Thang achieve the title of Outstanding Soldier at the grassroots level in 2024; a Certificate of Merit from the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army in 2025; and the title of Outstanding Young Face of the Navy and Promising Young Face of the entire army in 2026. For Thang, achievements are merely motivation to continue innovating.
