Developed from RMIT University's annual Fintech-Blockchain and Amazing Vietnam Tourism Initiative competitions, the RMIT Business Plan Competition - RBPC 2023 is organized by the RMIT Business School in collaboration with the RMIT FinTech Club Vietnam.

The competition aims to inspire students nationwide to identify real-world issues shaping the world and propose their own innovative solutions or business models to address these problems, thereby contributing to achieving the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

With the theme "Digital Innovation for a Sustainable Future! Are You Ready?", RBPC 2023 provides a valuable platform for university and high school students nationwide to solve real-world problems and reimagine a sustainable and technologically advanced future.

This year's RBPC brief focuses on five key areas: Digital Marketing, Governance and Change, Tourism and Hospitality, Financial Innovation, Business, and Technology.

Officially launched in early August 2023, the competition attracted 89 teams of students from nearly 100 universities and high schools nationwide. After the preliminary and semi-final rounds, the 5 best teams advanced to the final round in Ho Chi Minh City.

From food waste to e-commerce, electric vehicles, and smart contracts, the ideas competing in the RBPC 2023 finals revolve around a range of emerging issues and cutting-edge technologies.

As a result, team V3738 from VinUni University (Hanoi) won the championship with their EcoSight idea, a smart shopping assistant using artificial intelligence. The team consists of business administration students Nguyen Thi Quynh Trang, Bui Thi Diem Hong, Nguyen Tri Duc and computer science student Thai Huu Tri.

EcoSight encourages environmentally and health-conscious shopping. With just a scan, customers can instantly learn about a product's sustainability rating and other important information.

To provide a seamless shopping experience from online to in-store, EcoSight can be integrated as a software plugin into e-commerce platforms. The team also proposes installing environmentally friendly scanners in traditional stores.

Additionally, to encourage green consumption habits, customers will receive reward points (EcoScores) for each sustainable purchase recommended by the app. These reward points can be converted into discount codes.

Representing team V3738, Nguyen Thi Quynh Trang, a business administration student at VinUni University, shared: "As young people, we believe that green consumption will be the future of Vietnam in the next five to ten years thanks to the increasing awareness of sustainability and the need to pursue a green lifestyle."

"In this context, EcoSight sets itself the mission of revolutionizing the shopping habits of Vietnamese people, helping eco-friendly products reach more customer groups, and contributing to building a green and healthy society," said student Nguyen Thi Quynh Trang.
