Exciting New Year festivals

As a land with many relics and famous landscapes, the beginning of the new year in Dong Trieu is bustling with many festivals and spring activities , attracting a large number of local people and tourists from other provinces to participate.

The city currently has 132 relic sites (1 special national relic; 7 national relics; 22 provincial relics; 102 relics inventoried and classified for management), over 40 traditional festivals are held annually. To attract tourists, the city focuses on mobilizing investment resources for tourism development, especially during the Lunar New Year. At the same time, it directs units and localities to renovate urban areas, clean the environment, decorate festivals, and display colorful flags to welcome the new spring. Tourism businesses and establishments operating in the tourism sector in the area are actively renovating and investing in upgrading infrastructure and services for tourists. Ngoa Van - Yen Tu Cultural Tourism Joint Stock Company has invested in building accommodation and food services in the cable car station area to serve tourists visiting Ngoa Van Pagoda; Entertainment venues in the city are being renovated to welcome visitors.

With its inherent historical and cultural values, the Tran Dynasty Relic Site has become a place to attract tourists and develop spiritual tourism in the city. To proactively welcome visitors during the spring festival, the Management Board of the Tran Dynasty Relic Site has restored and embellished the relics; cleaned the environment; set up check-in areas at the relic sites to serve people and tourists to visit and sightsee. At the same time, a team of officers and employees have been arranged to guide and explain to serve tourists.

The Ngoa Van Spring Festival is an event of humanistic value, oriented towards the origin with many unique cultural and artistic activities. In 2025, the ceremony will take place with the ritual of praying for national peace and prosperity, beating drums - ringing bells to open the festival...; incense offering ceremony at Ngoa Van Pagoda - Hermitage, a sacred place of Truc Lam Buddhism, where King Tran Nhan Tong practiced and became Buddha. After the ceremony, the festival will take place with many unique and special cultural and sports activities, folk games; an area to introduce and sell typical OCOP products of 19 communes and wards of the city...

Thai Mieu Festival is one of the most important festivals in the city, imbued with cultural identity with Tran Dynasty rituals. In particular, the water procession ceremony has the meaning of paying tribute to the ancestors of the Tran Dynasty, a dynasty that started from fishing on the river. At the festival, there are also traditional martial arts performances; folk games... attracting a large number of visitors. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Lam, Deputy Head of the City Department of Culture and Information, said: In order to further enhance the value of the Tran Dynasty relic complex in the area, the city has developed a project to preserve and promote the value of the Tran Dynasty cultural heritage in Dong Trieu. In particular, attention is paid to mobilizing investment in building physical architecture, restoring intangible cultural elements; along with strengthening propaganda and promotion of the value of the heritage to the public near and far.

In particular, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, cultural, sports and folk games activities attracted a large number of people and tourists to participate: Art program and New Year's Eve TV bridge 2025 with over 15,000 people; Spring Newspaper Festival at the City Cultural and Sports Center attracted over 500 people; Trang Luong Ethnic Culture Festival attracted over 500 people... In the first 2 months of 2025, Dong Trieu welcomed 393,639 visitors, an increase of 47,645 over the same period in 2024.
