Students at Q.music Bac Giang Art Center (Bac Giang ward) practice playing the violin. |
At the Q.music Art Center in Bac Giang (Bac Giang ward), a large number of parents brought their children to register for art classes. From morning to night, the sounds of various musical instruments filled many classrooms. The center currently offers lessons in guitar, piano, violin, zither, etc. Among these, the piano class attracted the most students, with nearly 250 children participating this summer.
Ms. Tran Truc Quynh, Director of Q.music Bac Giang Art Center, said: “The demand for children to participate in art classes is increasing. Many families don't place too much emphasis on their children becoming professional artists, but rather want them to be exposed to music from an early age to develop concentration, perseverance, and a healthy environment. Music helps children become more confident, communicate more boldly, and develop positive emotions.”
| Leveraging the role of the Youth Union and Children's Union, this summer, grassroots units will continue to diversify summer activity models to suit the practical needs of children. Youth Union branches at all levels, relevant agencies, and localities need to strengthen the organization of cultural and sports activities, life skills experiences; and pay attention to investing in community playgrounds, libraries, and sports training areas for children. At the same time, they should promote awareness of drowning prevention and injury prevention skills to ensure children have a safe and enriching summer. |
Notably, this summer, the center is adding zither classes to provide students with access to this traditional musical instrument. Beyond learning performance skills, students will also gain a deeper understanding of traditional cultural values through folk music. The inclusion of the zither in the curriculum has also garnered interest from many parents who wish for their children to gain a better understanding of national cultural identity within a modern learning environment.
Besides arts and talent classes, many parents also focus on their children's physical development during the summer through sports. At the Bac Ninh FC Community Football Center (Van Mon commune), the training field is always bustling with laughter, chatter, and cheers from the young students every afternoon. The football classes attract a large number of children from kindergarten to junior high school age.
Here, children are trained in football techniques, while also developing teamwork skills, discipline, and improving physical fitness in a dynamic and healthy environment.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan, a parent whose child attends the center, said that instead of letting her child stay home and spend too much time on phones or watching TV, her family chose to enroll her in football classes to improve her health and communication skills. “After participating for a while, my child is more active, more confident, and has made many new friends. I find this to be a very beneficial activity for children during the summer,” Ms. Lan shared.
More than just a place to teach talents, these classes also become a valuable playground for children to socialize, make friends, and develop soft skills during the summer. Many children confidently perform in front of the class, participate in group activities, and gain confidence in communication.
Maximizing the effectiveness of summer activities.
At many facilities, the number of students registering has increased sharply since the beginning of the summer vacation. According to coaches, the number of students registering for sports classes this year has increased significantly, especially at the start of summer. This shows that parents are increasingly interested in creating a healthy environment that helps children develop comprehensively in both physical and life skills.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Hang from Vo Cuong ward shared: "Although the children are on summer vacation, my husband and I still work, so we enroll them in some skills and sports classes to provide them with a safe environment for play and to limit their excessive phone use."

Teachers instruct students in swimming at the Youth Activities Center of Bac Ninh province. |
At this time, local Youth Union and Children's Union organizations are also actively implementing many summer activities for children such as arts and culture, sports, folk games, and disseminating information on preventing drowning, injuries, and self-protection skills.
At the Bac Ninh Provincial Youth Activities Center, approximately 20 classes are being offered for artistic, sports, and life skills talents such as dance, modern dance, vocal music, piano, fine arts, swimming, taekwondo, badminton, chess, and public speaking. Simultaneously, the "Semester in the Military" program for 2026, themed "How Steel Was Tempered," is being implemented for teenagers aged 10-16 to cultivate independence, discipline, and teamwork skills.
Diverse summer playgrounds are bringing many practical benefits to children. Through experiential activities, children develop communication skills, teamwork, improve their physical fitness, and cultivate their talents. In a context where children are increasingly drawn to phones, online games, and social media, creating real-world, enriching playgrounds is becoming even more necessary.
Group activities provide children with healthy recreation, fostering positive habits and a balance between learning and play. However, alongside these positive signs, the reality is that some residential areas still lack public playgrounds for children. In many rural areas, access to talent classes and skills centers remains limited. Some summer activities are spontaneous, lacking depth of experience or not truly suitable for each age group.
To ensure children have a truly meaningful summer, according to Mr. Ha Thai Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and Chairman of the Provincial Children's Council, the Youth Union and Children's Council organizations will continue to diversify summer activity models to suit the actual needs of children, leveraging their role.
Youth Union branches at all levels, relevant agencies, and localities need to strengthen the organization of cultural and sports activities, and life skills experiences; pay attention to investing in community playgrounds, libraries, and sports training areas for children. At the same time, they should promote awareness of drowning prevention and injury prevention skills to ensure children have a safe and enriching summer.
